| Prak, the Mad09-06-05, 01:12 AM | My girlfriend is dming a game, and having learned from me, she is an insane dm(the other day I actually said "Dear gods, I've unleashed upon the world another dm like me...") She is letting me basically take the rules and do whatever I want, like playing a Demon worshipping Vasharan Antipaladin/druid. what do you guys think a character like this should be like, I've got his stats all figured out, but other than linking his class combination and the probable philosophy to a real-world religion(satanism) I don't quite know where to start with a backstory or persona for him.. the full version of him is a gestalt Half-fiend(4) vasharan druid(5)/antipaladin(6)/Master of Many Forms(5) with five wolf animal companions, and a fiendish gryphon mount and he worships a demon goddess of lycanthropy. what do you guys think? [half-rant]satanism, well, religious satanism, isn't about worshiping satan as the abrahamic religions know him, but rather worshiping a pre-christian force of nature, and believe that man is nothing more than an animal, and as an animal, he should indulge his whims and desires in a responsible and mature manner.[/half-rant] oh, and his alignment is CE, I figured it'd be easier to explain bending the rules of druids than the rules of paladinish classes, and I'm using the non-spellcasting variant of the paladin, modified for chaotic evil(how should 'tend to mount' be modified?) |
| slade_caizer09-06-05, 01:38 AM | Had you considered an Ex-Druid/Blighter/Blackguard? Also, you mentioned that your character was gestalt. If that's the case, what's the other half or how are the above mixed? |
| Prak, the Mad09-06-05, 01:52 AM | I don't personally like the blighter class, but that's because I don't agree with it's philosophy(I generally won't make characters that are completely against my beliefs, I occasionally do, just because it is on occasion fun, but never blighters), and I wanted Antipaladin because she's doing an evil game and said we would have to fight a paladin, so I wanted a character to oppose it. Gestalt breakdown 1-Druid 1/Half-fiend LA1 2-Druid 2/Half-fiend LA2 3-Druid 3/Half-fiend LA3 4-Druid 4/Half-fiend LA4 5-Druid 5/antipaladin 1 6-AP2/MoMF 1 7-AP3/MoMF 2 8-AP 4/MoMF 3 9-AP 5/MoMF 4 10-AP 6/MoMF 5 I like the concept of the character, I like the fact that it breaks alignment rules and cultural norms, and I like the fact that it and it's mount can perform aerial flanking. ^_^ |
| slade_caizer09-06-05, 02:06 AM | Actually...now that I look at the character in that format...it looks badass! You're doing an evil game, eh? Marvelous. If you can find the time and want it, I might recommend 3 levels of Disciple of Mephistopheles for flavor. Wildshaping into enormous flaming monsters is high on the intimidation/coolness factor imo. Of course the sight of a Fireball-spewing Dire Bear just gets me laughing. Be sure to consider armor with the Darksoul Protection quality. Wouldn't want any smites puting you down. Let's see... Scratch what I've said. After you finish MoMF at level 15, go ahead continuing Anti-Paladin and mix in Warshaper. Multimorph could be some nice flexibilty--not to mention immunity to critical hits, fast healing, +4 Str&Con, +5ft reach, increased natural weapon damage....the list is long. Another option would be Rogue2/Hexblade3 for Evasion, Mettle and other charisma-related goodness. |
| Gurthoron09-06-05, 10:33 AM | I like it. Different, flavorful, and has a weird/cool factor I haven't seen in a while. I'm surprised you call the nature worship Satanism. I'm assuming you are a religious person, so is that what it is considered to your church? Just curious, as my religious knowledge is shaky. Since your DM is insane, I'd ask if you could take a feat or something to allow all your animal forms to be Fiendish creatures of that type. More of a flavor thing than for effectiveness, but I think it would go great with this character. I do have an issue with the alignment, because I see druids being neutral as a far more logical restriction than the anti-paladin (UA Paladin of Slaughter?) being CE. Personal taste more than anything, I suppose. For "Tend Mount", I'd suggest keeping it, but changing the name suitably. Or changing it to negative energy and having an undead mount. |
| Surreal09-06-05, 11:39 AM | As long as you're tweaking the rules a bit, become undead (pick a template of your choice) and get undead wildshape (Libris Mortis). With the options from MoMF, that opens up a lot of neat possibilities. Oh, and really shoot for MoMF7 for the ex abilities. |
| Prak, the Mad09-06-05, 05:02 PM | well, religious satanists value life, and hold children and animals precious as the purest examples of life(so, yeah, to my church...), so, it's really more that satanism fits him, rather than me saying 'I think I'll make a satanic character'(hope no fundi's are looking at this, this is all they need to assail DnD, satanic characters... anyway...) I don't think I'll go disciple of Meph. because my character worships a specific demon goddess, specifically one I created in my recent campaign when my girlfriend's character read the original Book of Vile Darkness and ascended. My girlfriend put the demon goddess version of her character into her game as the driving force, so I decided to play a character who worships her to keep the game on track, Her character was a Gest.Rang/rog, Were-Dire wolf, so very much a nature deity, but Chaotic Evil, so I decided to make my character match her alignment(not to mention our 'IRL' alignments, I'm a confirmed CE, after taking the Alignment tests on Druid's Grove and in the Hero Builder's Guidebook, and she's taken the book one, and come out to be CE also.) The demon Goddess Leo is a goddess of Lycanthropes, nature, beasts, etc. and so, very much against undead, I might take the feat, but I see antipaladins as having to always be Chaotic Evil as a good restriction(as they are equal and opposite to paladins) and i think druids should be any alignment. but anyway, what do guys think his personality is like, between being a vasharan who worships a deity, a druid who is not neutral, he is very much an outcast...(vasharan don't worship deities in anyway, and they are never druids, says so in BoVD) |
| Prak, the Mad09-08-05, 09:22 PM | bump! well, what do people think? how do you guys think I should play this character? |
| Vaalingrade Ashland09-09-05, 02:58 AM | Shapeshifting Master of Darkness? Have you by chance seen Samurai Jack? You're Aku. Follow his example except the gloating and being defeated. :) |
| Prak, the Mad09-09-05, 03:23 PM | :twitch: :evillaugh you're right, this is aku... sorta... thanks! |
| Kothardarastrix09-09-05, 06:01 PM | Okay with those many animal companions, can I assume this is a 3.0 campaign? Anyways, why not have your character emulate your goddess and be a half-fiend/half-(dire)werewolf (lord). |
| Prak, the Mad09-11-05, 02:30 AM | well... not quite 3.0, really morel like 3.25... somewhere in between... anyway, I don't want to emulate Leo, because I want this to be more my own character, and she was a ranger/rogue... I've been rethinking my character though, haven't decided which version to go with, this one, or: half fiend1/Warlock1 HF2/Wrl2 HF3/Wrl3 HF4/Wrl4 Wrl5/Antipaladin1 Wrl6/AP2 AP3/Demon summoner1(Evil AEG book) AP4/DS2 AP5/DS3 AP6/DS4 I've put some thought into the character's background, and decided that as a child, when being trained by his mother(a shadow demon) as a druid(or warlock) his villiage was attacked by crusading paladins of Pelor, killing everyone except him, and now he desires revenge against Pelor himself. |
