Any Alchemist core classes? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-30-04, 11:45 AM Hey, I'm trying to find an alchemist core class. I've seen PrC's but that's all. I want to find one to save myself the embarassment of failing at making one myself.

Hmm sounds good i guys.. But what do you mean by "Master Alchemist" PrC? Is there another Alchemist PrC other than the regular Alchemist? If so, is it in the Prestige class compendium thingy?

12-30-04, 06:33 PM Without breaching OGL, the Master Alchemist is a master at both the craft (alchemy) skill and making potions.

Other characters can use both of these abilities by having craft (alchemy) and/or brew potion, but their skills pale compared to the master alchemists skills... The master alchemist gains the ability to make potions of 9th level spells for example.... no other character can replicate this feat.

Incidentilly it is a 3.0 class and so needs slight tweaking to 3.5 (changing alchemy to craft (alchemy) for example).

The artificer/master alchemist is the most efficient potion maker in the entire game as the artificer can make potions using both divine or arcane spells from any class although I am uncertain whether an artificers caster level qualifies them to take craft (alchemy) as it specifically states "must be a spellcaster", however it can be argued that these rules came before the printing of both the artificer and the warlock and therefore might be changed to mean "you must have a caster level to learn craft (alchemy)"

It seems pretty silly that an artificer can emulate pretty much every other spellcaster related ability when it comes to making magical items (including potions) but couldnt make alchemical mixtures so I would rule that craft (alchemy) is a skill that artificers can take.
