Just wondering since I haven't had a chance to look through it yet, new spell, abilities, or something else nice.

There's not much for the Hexblade in CA. Just a sidebar saying which new arcane spells are on the Hexblade's spell list at each level (no spells are, to my knowledge, Hexblade-unique, though)

There's nothing directly for the hexblade, but there is a note of which of the new spells for other classes can also be taken by hexblades, and a couple of the new prestige classes (Acolyte of the Skin, Green Star Adept, etc) may be worth considering for an interested hexblade. Also, the warlock class makes a good ally for a hexblade, thematically, and multiclasses or geshalts between the two could be interesting.

All together, not too much, though more then I was expecting.

Sad to say, there will probably never be much more on the awesomest (prolly not a word) class ever made.
However, some day we will see The Quintisential Hexblade.
I hope.
Maybe.

I know :weep:

The hexblade has really grown on me and I'd like to sell more support for it.

I don't think that the Hexblade is Open Gaming Content, so Mongoose Publishing (creator of the Quintessential series) won't be able to make any books about it.

Complete Arcane Prestige Classes and the Hexblade

This is basically just a quick run through of the PrCs from Complete Arcane and seeing when a Hexblade could qualify for them, if at all. Note that these assume the character advances only as a Hexblade until taking levels in the PrC.

Acolyte of the Skin: Possible at Hex 10, provided the Hexblade can find a way to make peaceful contact with an evil outsider and can find a copy of the Ritual of Bonding.

Alienist: Not possible; no summoning spells of 3rd level or higher on Hexblade spell list.

Argent Savant: Not possible; no force spells on Hexblade spell list.

Blood Magus: Possible at Hex 10, provided you die and are brought back to life.

Effigy Master: Not possible; simulacrum not on Hexblade spell list.

Elemental Savant: Not possible; Hexblade spell list lacks spells with fire/cold/electricity/acid descriptors.

Enlightened Fist: Amazingly enough, this is possible by Hex 6... without multiclassing, no less. O_o;

Fatespinner: Possible by Hex 14; 5 level PrC.

Geometer: Possible at Hex 15, but only if you take the Arcane Preparation feat.

Green Star Adept: Possible at Hex 5, provided you can find enough starmetal to meet the needs of the PrC.

Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil: Not possible; not enough abjuration spells of 4th level on Hexblade spell list.

Mage of the Arcane Order: Possible at Hex 6, provided Arcane Preparation feat is taken.

Master Transmogrifist: Possible at Hex 14; 10 level PrC.

Mindbender: Possible at Hex 10.

Seeker of the Song: Not possible without multiclassing as a bard.

Sublime Chord: Not possible without multiclassing as a bard.

Suel Arcanamach: Possible at Hex 6.

Wayfarer Guide: Not possible; teleport not on the Hexblade spell list.

Wild Mage: Possible at Hex 5, surprisingly enough. O_o

But is there anything directly relating to the Hexblade?
I think not...

However consider these, two slight tweaks to the allready perfect class (they just seem to fit, cause Hexblade is just a tiny bit underpowered):
Bardsong is essentialy the antihexblade curse. Bards can get extend song and extra song to give them extra and better songs, however Hexblades do not have such feats. I for one think that at liest Extra Curse should be a feat that gives extra curses.
Also, the Hexblade bonus feat is rather sparce. I purpose adding any Spelltouched feats from AU to the list, as long as the feat has to do with Necromancy, Illusion, or Enchantment.

New Feat:
Extra Hexblade Curse
Requirements: Hexblade Curse class ability, casting of 1st level arcane spells.
Benifit: You gain 2 extra curses per day.

Any chance we could see this list of spells that are added to the CA's list, seeing as it wasn't included in that damn article?

Hexblade spells:
1st: Backbiter
2nd: Phantasmal Assailants, Whirling Blade
4th: Assay Resistance, Unluck

I think Hexblade is good conceptually but the feat and spell selection they were given is abominable.

I agree that a hexblade is a wee bit underpowered by itself but is wicked with the right multiclassing.

Anyways if I was to redesign the hexblade I'd add the following:

- Add most of the wizard spells from the enchantment, necromancy, transmutaion, and illusion schools to their spell lists.

-Make an extra curse feat, similar to the extra rage feat like redmage's idea.

-Add to their bonus feats skill focus concentration, extra curse, extend spell, silent spell, heighten spell, and improved familar.

Just to note, I was looking at the Hexblade I'm playing rightnow and then at the Whirling Blade spell. Serioulsy, even though Wizards, Sorcerers, and Bards can have soem fun with it, a Hexblade with a good martial weapon is going to through that hting and start murderating things in a nice line. Quite cool IMHO.

I like the idea of feats like the Bardsong feats. I'll ask my DM on that when it comes along to that actually.

Stuff.

The only Hexblade I ever played with died a bad death. He was RPed by this 17 year old cocky guy in our Saturday group.

Well he was on guard duty and along came an owlbear. He chooses to engage the owlbear by himself and not attemt to cry out for us to awaken and help him. Well the owlbear grappled him and he still didnt cry for help. On his next turn the DM asks what do you want to do? The Hexblades says he wants to attempt to break the grapple which was futile to begin with. So he keeps attempting to break the grapple for 2 more turns to no avail. So he left the DM no choice but to cary him off into the woods pecking him the face the whole way. We found him the next morning in a cave, only his mostly eaten carcass was left. I still laugh at this to this day. We were secretly rofloao! Maybe it's one of those "ya had to be there" kinda things.

Besides the little story the Hexblade looks like a great class and I cant wait to RP one. I might have to go chaotic neutral and have some serious fun with it.

I just had the thought the other day of an Extra Curse feat. Huh. I also thought of a feat tree with Hex Curse as a prereq that lowers ASF. The image in CW just makes me think that Hexblades should have at least medium armor as an alternate Dark Knight type.

If a hexblade take the medium armor feat or takes a class that grants that a hexblade can wear medium mithral armor without worrying about ASF.

Yeah, I suppose.

Although I did come up with yet another idea.

Hex Focus
Prereqs - Extra Curse
Effect - +2 Save DC for uses of Hexblade's curse.

I love the Hexblade! It is the awesomest class ever!!!!!! I wish they had more material, but they probabily will!

Maybe
Not.

Here's a Hexblade-oriented feat for ya.

Improved Mettle
Mettle Class Feature, Hexblade Level 6th
When using Mettle, a character may have the damage or the effect halved on an unsuccessful save.

Here's an Epic one

Ultimate Hexblade's Curse (Epic)
Dire Hexblade's Curse, Cha 25
A Hexblade, when using Hexblade's Curse, the penalty becomes -8 instead of -6.

Note: These were thought of from the top of my head. Oh yeah-

Attack's Will
BAB +10, Will Save +7
You may add your BAB to your Will save when dealing with supernatural, magical and in any way unusual attacks.

For a Hexblade with medium armor prof. theres a feat called Battle Caster that lets you cast spells w/o asf in medium armor. Quite nice.
