| Dracspero06-07-05, 10:12 PM | Tricky, as the lawfull nature of the monk would usually prohibit being uncivilized. |
| HappyDragon06-07-05, 11:38 PM | Depends on what you mean by "üncivilized". If you want someone that is simply self-sufficient in the wilderness that's one thing. Or by the terminology it could also mean something quite outside the scope of "civilized" society that revels in it's own freedoms and the masses be damned. In which case the Lawful monk would start to become a problem as Dracspero has already pointed out. A bit more to go on would be useful. Although off the top of my head I like the idea of the Shifters from the Eldeen Reaches, (Eberron campaign setting). |
| Hairfoot06-07-05, 11:56 PM | How about a member of a savage race who looks for enlightenment by becoming a hermit, or by joining a monastic order of another race? Lawfulness doesn't denote civilisation, just adherence to a code or set of rules. So a druidly monk may be savage, but have very clear principles regarding flora and fauna. Striving to maintain a threatened ecosystem would be lawful. Perhaps he holds that all trees should be allowed to grow old and fall, as the natural order dictates, instead of being felled. Or maybe he fights to prevent excessive hunting of a species by a civilised race. |
