Krusk 01-19-07, 09:47 PM	We used it once, it did its job. Seems like a good flavorful way to work rerolling a character. Its usually a lot easier simply to just say well thats what you wanted to be in the first place, redo build in those levels and we call it even.

Lina_Inverse 01-20-07, 04:33 AM	Retraining is ridiculous. I have numerous reasons for this, but if i went over them id get extremely ranty and nasty, which i dont want to do. Lets just say, i believe in the value of choices.

That being said, I give my players the opportunity to retool their characters within reason when we get new books if something fits the character better than previously existing choices, but the retooling is done between the player and DM
nephsytis 01-20-07, 08:51 AM	due to my group being newbies (myslef included) when we started the campaign (2 years ago) the retraining can really make up for poor choices at first level, like my namesake necromancer banning abjuration. not bad at first level. level 12 its a shocking decision. one week later, and a few hundred gold, bang! resistances, dispells and all that abjuration goodness and goodbye enchantment. best thing ever. also the cleric retooled as he envisioned a prc when he rolled, but decided to stay vanilla. i think the retraining feats allow you to keep the character you like, rather than rerolling an almost mirror perfect one. ie: dm: jorazon takes 2d8 damage player: actually i'm Bruce now. dm: really? the character is exactly the same! player: no i put my stat point from level 8 in the wrong thing, and its gunna cripple me for the next three levels, so i rerolled. jorazon is gone.
Leress 01-20-07, 10:44 AM	I think the rules are a waste of space in the book. They make it so long winded, and it just stupid fluff. It takes up paragraphs??? :confused: :confused: :confused: To sum it up: you and your DM sit down when you level and you fix your character, at his option. He might make your go on a quest where you get XP and treasure.
