| phineas7705-18-06, 01:17 PM | I have a player that would like to PrC into Seeker of the Song? Does anyone feel this class is too powerful? It just seems that the ability to use what is supposed to be a standard action twice in a round has the potential for abuse. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this class is balanced? Thanks. |
| Seerow05-18-06, 01:21 PM | lol quicken spell. |
| CaoSlayer05-18-06, 01:27 PM | Bard songs are usually weaker that any spell, so isnt that bad. |
| phineas7705-18-06, 01:56 PM | Right, but Quicken spell has many feat prereqs and you can only quicken lower level spells because of the requisite level adjustment. In addition, there are a very limited number of daily uses due to spell slot limitations. I'm not up on the Bard class, but I think you get a significant number of uses per day. Couple that with the feat that gives you 4 extra uses (versus the single spell slot feat) and you can pull off two uses of the ability per round for much longer than any caster could do the same with quickened spells. Bard songs may be weaker, but they are area effect. Many of the powerful arcane/divine spells are single or limited targets. |
| CaoSlayer05-18-06, 02:13 PM | Yes, bards buffs are great, but are just buffs, a bard compared with a cleric it is sacrificing level 7-9 spells just for bardic music. By the way, If my memories dont fail, this prc have only half-caster progresion, isnt? with 5 caster levels less a bard it is giving up all this level 6 spells, this higher caster level. The point if this prc it is to make bardic music as powerful as spells so the bard can sacrifice casting in favor of being a pure singer. |
| Witch05-18-06, 02:37 PM | Right, but Quicken spell has many feat prereqs How do you mean? |
| Blank_the_Bard05-18-06, 03:33 PM | You have to remember that most of the songs have a 30 ft radius, so the bard pretty much has to be in the thick of things in order to affect others with the song. Couple this with the fact that Seeker songs don't last for five rounds after the bard stops singing and you have some pretty severe limitations. Not to mention that if the big black dragon notices some guy singing and his breath weapon not being nearly as effective as it should be, that can draw some bad attention for the poor bard. Just my view of things. |
| phineas7705-18-06, 04:01 PM | Witch, I think Quicken spell has the Still and Silent prereqs, does it not? Thanks for the feedback. I needed some arguments for balance, etc. and I see the point that people are making. Looks like he's gonna get to play his SotS. Thanks again. |
| Witch05-18-06, 04:05 PM | Witch, I think Quicken spell has the Still and Silent prereqs, does it not? No, it does not :) |
| Todd05-18-06, 05:06 PM | Seeker songs are nice but they eat bardic music uses really fast. Overall I would say that a Bard 10 / Seeker 10 is a good bit weaker than, say a Bard 10 / Sublime Chord 10 ... which in turn is about the same as a Sorcerer 20. |
