The Archivist from Heroes of Horror looks like a very interesting, flavorful class to play. It's essentially a prayerbook using divine spellcaster with a 'bardic' knowledge like focus on creatures. He can buff the party against certain creatures with knowledge checks, can learn spells from [divine] scrolls that aren't clerical, and has a few bonus feats.

I'm just curious what people have done with the Archivist, as it seems to be a strong candidate for "Stay in this class for 20 levels" for the nice Dark Knowledge enhancements.

He ... can learn spells from scrolls that aren't divine...
Correction. He can learn non-clerical spells from scrolls that are divine. He cannot gain anything from an arcane scroll.

They are an awesome class. Great for 20 levels. There are also other interesting things you can do with them. Play a Bhuka (Sandstorm) Archivist who gets a scroll of Lightning Bolt, then enters the Hexer PrC from Masters of the Wild. Hexer gets Full BAB and lots of cool spell-like abilities.
