| cperkins08-06-04, 01:01 PM | Is anyone playing this variant class out of Unearthed Arcana? If so, how's it going? I'm about to play one on Eberron and wanted to see what I was in for. Thanks! |
| Tweedledope08-06-04, 11:55 PM | I actually am playing a Cloistered Cleric/Loremaster mix. The DMG says that Clerics gain little from levels of Loremaster, I say hogwash. The Loremaster is a really cool role playing class. I'm a member of the Council of Sages for one of the largest cities in my DMs campaign. I like the Cloistered Cleric but it is a VERY specialized role to take. -=Tweedledope=- |
| cperkins08-07-04, 12:27 AM | That's exactly the route my character was going to take! With the bardic knowledge stacking from both classes, the good skill points of both classes, and the massive class skill list for loremasters (which compliments that of the cloistered cleric) I actually like the combination. The loss of turning ability will hurt... so maybe I'll only take a few levels of loremaster. I envisioned a Brother Cadfael or Brother William from The Name of the Rose type of guy in making this character. |

My problem with the Cloistered Cleric is that he has too few skills (adimttedly I solved this by taking the Trickery Domain). I had an Atheistic Cleric who was determined to prove the Gods didn't exist and his response to clerical magic was "Look, I can do that too. Next point?". Very useful outside combat, but until you gain the ability to cast Divine Power and Righteous Might, he's about as much use as a chocolate teapot in combat- the Wizard gets better combat spells and the cloistered cleric is little tougher and can't hit any harder. Giving him the ability to gain Full BAB OTOH turns him into a mincing machine everywhere. |
