Apostle of peace and protective magic items. [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-13-05, 07:08 AM in the book of exalted deeds it says:
weapon and armor proficiency: as part of their sacred vows, apostles of peace forswear the use of armor, though they may wear magic items that protects them (such as a ring of protection and bracers of armor).
Is there more protective item? and what is it?
I know two more that those listed above: Amulet of natural armor and scarab of protection.

02-13-05, 01:29 PM The Apostle of Peace can't actually use *any* magic item. It has the Vow of Poverty as a requirement.

We generally assume the person who wrote that section was mistaken, or the VoP was added as a requirement after the class was designed. The latter seems more likely, as there is no particular reason to make the AoP impoverished.

That said, there are also some Robes(depending on your old class), Cloak of Resistance, Cloak of Displacement, Ring of Force Shield, Ring of Blinking, and some ioun stones.

02-13-05, 04:29 PM I think that once you become a apostle of peace, your vows of poverty are relaxed concerning protective magic. It would seem apropriate since the AOP must go into very dangerous area's to bring peace.

I agree, Apostle seem to be the exception to the rule (always one exist).

Ring of Evasion, Elemental resistance rings, and maybe things that raise con or Dex can be looked at as defensive.

they still get the bonuses from the vow of poverty, but think about it they can´t take on bracers of armor or ring of protection, because they don´t stack with the bonus you get from the feat, but you can take on amulets of natural armor, which stack with the natural armor they already have, and a scarab of protection, which is good to have when you stand against an evil sorcerer or cleric.
