Apostle of Peace contradiction? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-22-05, 11:22 AM under armor proficiencies it states that:
"as part of their sacred vows, apostles of peace forswear the use of armor, though they may wear magic items that protect them (such as ring of protection or bracers of armor)"

yet a prerequisit of apostle of peace is the vow of poverty which states:
"you may not use any magic item of any sort, though you can benefit from magic items used on your behalf."

so does the ability to supposedly wear magic protective items override the latter statement?

It is a direct contradiction of itself, so its a hard call.

To me the vows preceed the class, so they trump anything in the class.

05-22-05, 11:32 AM i don't think you'd get to wear any magic items and such, for with the vow of poverty, you already get enough armor as it is! and besides, it states under that feat that you can't, so i don't think you can

05-22-05, 02:06 PM Vow of Poverty gives you enough benefits to make up for the nonability to use magic items. I agree that the vow wins out.

05-22-05, 04:40 PM i think the apostle was made without thought to the tenets of the Vow (hey, it happens. not everybody knows about everything going on when they make stuff)

the person who made the Apostle of peace probably thought the Vow of poverty wasnt going to be that restrictive, so they put that in.

I believe one of the perks of Apostle is the use of magic protective gear such as bracers or rings.
Not all agree with that belief I see.
