Arcane "Thrower" [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-12-04, 10:39 AM Would the Arcane Archer PrC in the DMG lend itself to being altered into an Arcane Thrower-type class? What would one need to change? What would one need to keep the same?

04-16-04, 11:21 PM I dont see it working as they intended. I like using throwing weapons i think they are cool as all hell but the arcane archer is an elf only PrC. The elves unoffical weapon is the long bow. The class was designed around this. Switching weapons seems very unfluffy.

Just thing, your plus 3 dagger of fireball being tossed into the center eye of a beholder.

04-17-04, 02:32 AM Seems to me the arcane thrower could be the halfling version of the arcane archer. I would maybe make it more stealth based (perhaps with continued progression of sneak attack). Maybe one of the higher level class skills would be to increase the range at which you could sneak attack with thrown weapons (maybe to 60 ft at 5 and 90 at 10th, or maybe just 60ft at 10th).
On another note, you can apply the extra damage provided by the Order of the Bow Initiate to any missile weapon. You do, however, have to take several bow related feats to qualify.
