It would be cool if there was some way to get full caster along with the death attack ability (in fact, if it was a low prereq class it would be worth it just for that if it came with some way to use it as part of a spell). Just think about it, a beguiler (who can get into anywhere unnoticed) along with the ability to dish out some serious harm! |
| Captain_Kobold05-27-07, 03:15 PM | Well, the Assassin prestige class combines an arcane spell progression with the Death attack ability. Perhaps take a look at that? Arcane trickster combines spellcasting with sneak attack progression (along with a few other tricks). If what you are after is a full wizard-type casting progression combined with full death attack progression, I very much doubt you will find that anywhere. |
| dndfencer05-27-07, 03:23 PM | yeah, but i'm gonna try (and if not i'll make one or force someone else to). Also, assasin get their own funky arcane spells, not a progression of spell casting, and arcane tricksters are just weird and not that useful (i know i'm being picky). And while we're at the topic i'd like to rant about the dreadful lack of more specialist spell classes (like the warmage, beguiler, and the dread necromancer). I mean seriously a necromancy/ evoker specialist could be cool or even transmutation evoker. C'mon wizards if you start it, finish it. |

| UgtarBigStrongie05-27-07, 06:40 PM | Your don't really get many spells, but you could be a warlock/assassin, you would get infinite range touch death attacks which do the same damage as a rogue from up to 100 feet away if you get the spear ability. Or if you use Blast Cone, you could get a death attack on multiple enemies while hidden and later levels you get a infinite invisibility spells. |
| arjomanes05-27-07, 07:58 PM | You could look at the binder class. One of its vestiges gives death attack and there are others that grant sneak attack and sudden strike. |
| dndfencer05-31-07, 12:04 AM | Ugtar, that can't possibly work... unless wizards seriously overlooked that. OMG that is so cool that i'm going to go look for reasons why it won't work. Arjomanes, I don't know what the binder class in, what book or is it online or dragon? Thanks Ugtar, only prob is warlock casting kind of sucks but whatever I guess I can't have everything. WHile we're at this, I remember the 'brute assasin', a warblade that specializes in tiger and has hella high str (and level 17) and uses the tiger 9th level thingy. And I remember the arcane archer stuff... Just curious, are there any powerful archer biulds with arcane archer? it seems possible that you could make one, I just never quite figured it out. |
| The_Shaman05-31-07, 04:20 AM | Not with many AA levels, from what I know. As soon as you get imbue arrow, you can go into eldritch knight - chances are, the better spells you can use will be enough compensation for all other AA abilities.. BTW, do take a look at the IVT, it's nice in quite a few ways - although for a proper assassin, I'd dump some of the spell-likes for more casting. Mind you, they can be quite sweet when you want to find someone and they aren't making it too easy for oyu. |
