| DarknessEternal02-14-05, 07:22 PM | Is there any way of making an warrior/caster using arcane spells that isn't horribly crippled for someone of equal level? Bladesingers and Spellswords are way off the mark considering their poor spell progression. Hexblades have a poor selection of spells. Warmages are no kind of fighter, they are strictly damage casters. The best option appears to be Eldritch Knight and that can't start until 7th level at the earliest. Even then, you'd have pretty abominable hit points for a fighting guy. Any suggestions as to what classes/feats/etc can be used to make a good fighter/arcane caster? |

Well, your caster progression stalls, but you get heavy boosts to stats, as well as armor, and some other things. Like 10d12 hit points, and a breath weapon. People malign it for the lack of spell progression, but it is good for a melee oriented sorcerer. And it is even better for a wizard, if you can convince your DM to houserule it so a wiz can take it. Enlightened Fist also provides another option, for those going the monk/caster route. |

Couldn't have said it better, 'cause it's true. If you want fighter/mage builds, I've got a link in my sig for that. If you want a decent arcane warrior variant based off the UA battle sorcerer, I got that in my sig too. Otherwise, you have to remember that unless you're playing gestalt you've gotta give up something for each benefit. |

| DM Zoc02-14-05, 11:37 PM | Clerics don't seem to give up very much for spell progression which exceeds all arcane casters. They give up the ability to cast arcane spells, and the ability to not be some ego-maniac's lackey. They also give up the ability to do what they want with their spells regardless of the desires of said ego-maniac and/or the expectations of the rest of the party. |
