yes, they are very very very good. my favorite prc actually.

What I suggest is going Human druid 5 / wizard 3 to start so when you actually start gaining AH levels your wildshape ability will increase (if you don't have wildshape when you enter AH you don't retroactively get the boost to wildshape from earlier ah levels, even if you increase your druid level later). For stats, its upto you. I suggest 10 str and 10 dex with at least 12 to 14 con (since your hp don't change when you wildshape, but str and dex do). For spellcasting, its really hard to make an ah shine for both casting types, but I suggest 16's for both wisdom and intelligence (18 intelligence if you can muster the points, skill points rock), and focus on one of the casting stats with your level up points. Trying to focus on both will make you sub par with both casting stats rather than good with one and sub par with the other. Also, I like preparing blasting/bfc spells with my arcane side and buff/healing/bfc spells with druid side. Natural Spell is a must, grab it at 6th level (druid 5 / wizard 1). Improved Initiative is also very useful since your dexterity is poor in caster form. And if you can take a feat from the Eberron Campaign Setting, I suggest getting Ashbound. It automatically extends any summon nature's ally spell you cast as well as giving the creature(s) you summon (with summon nature's ally) a +3 luck bonus to their attack rolls. Another good feat to take would be Practiced Spellcaster (Wizard) to make up for the lower caster level.

Other than that, have fun! I like the class.

I love my Arcane Hierophant PC. I did however go with the Conjurer Varient from UA for the wizard side of things. Focus obviously being more on summoning and spells than the wild shape. Losing the familiar stacking aspect with the animal companion really isnt that bad for the Rapid Summoning or the free Augmented Summoning for dropping scribe scroll. I agree with the Practiced Spellcaster feat being a must for the bringing up the wizard caster half too.

....must....get....Summon Elemental Monolith.....
Anyways...

Overall IMO Great PrC if you DM isnt overly cranky about the two dual caster levels thing.
