Arcane Spell Chance Faliure [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-16-06, 02:38 PM What armor options (real armor, not rings, bracers, or other wonderous items) does a sorcerer/wizard really have. As of now the only thing I have found to lower the failure chance is Thistledown (in races of the wild). If anyone has a clue on how I can get some armor to up my AC without the Failure chance please let me know.

P.S. I posted this here rather than arm and equipment because i thought maybe there would be a prestige class that would allow me to wear armor. Bards can wear light, but can only cast bard spells... Any other classes that would allow me wear armor and still cast my sorcerer spells without the failure chance.

07-16-06, 02:41 PM Making it out of mithral can lower the ASF chance by 10%. If you have the ultimate equipment guide, it's full of special materials, as are the races books.

However as a wizard/sorcerer you're really better off just getting the ring or the bracers.

07-16-06, 05:32 PM Mithral [DMG] Feycraft/Githcraft [DMG II] Twilight [BoED/PHB II] armour will give you no ASF. You're limited to light armour, but it works for shields too, so a reasonable armor bonus is possible.

07-16-06, 09:25 PM Mongoose's The Quintessential Wizard has an enhancement called wizard's armor, which is armor designed to be less restrictive of movement and have less of a spell failure chance. The enhancement can only be added to masterwork armor when it is first crafted and costs an extra 200gp. Wizard's armor has an armor bonus 2 lower than the armor's normal version, weighs five pounds less, and has a 10% lower spell failure chance.
