Am I the only one that looks at the Arch Mage, then turns the page to the Heirophant and just get ticked off? Arch mage and Heirophant both have very similar abilities. There are differences in their abilities, but there isn't a difference in the ammount of power that each PRC gives, just a difference based on class abilities (IE Arcane Fire vs Mastery of Energy vs Power of Nature)
SO WHY IN THE FRIGGIN COW DID WOTC SKIMP ON THE DIVINE!
Arch Mages get 1 spell level per Arch Mage level, and the Heirophant gets ZERO! I still have no idea why WOTC screwed the Heirophant over with spell levels, nor do I understand the logic of putting the Druid and Cleric version of Arch Mage together like a horse and a cow being put together by an oncoming train!
My vote, split the Heirophant, creating seperate cleric and druid options, and give them 1 spell level/PrC level

Yeah, that did seem a little harsh.

Another odd thing about D&D 3.5 (and D&D in general) is that clerics cast more spells per day than wizards.

Xain - go epic. Then the Hierophant gives up nothing for his abilities (he still gets caster levels, which are all that matters at epic, but not additional spells per day, which don't matter at epic), while the Archmage has still lost some spells.

I wholeheartedly agree about the nerf in the case of the hierophant, but I think of it differently than upping this class.

Instead nerfing the archmage, and giving them the same (no spellprog) would at least make the two classes equal.

The way it stands now, archmage will always be superior to hierophant, sad but true.:(

Zug Zug.

I plan eventually (after about the other 100 D&D things I have to do) to change Hierophant to make it similar to Archmage - you sacrifice spells slots for abilties, rather then not get any more spells known/per day.

Then just make sure Hierophant can't take Spell Power as much as he wants. This just leads to very abusive... "wording" and "blaspheming" that kills equal opponents without save (bead of karma, orange ioun, domain and you can kill just about anything you meet).
