Anybody found how to make this class really shine, yet? All told, I like it, but it is always nice to hear what other people think.

you mean it doesn't shine on it's own from the start? I mean you have quite potentially THE most verstitile casting class in exsitance there. I mean it isn't to difficult to get arcane spells scribed over to divine... heck the adept class has a few of those in it's spell list. you can be a combat monster or a permier buffer. between personal spell research and research into various gospels and the like you can come up with all sorts of interesing rp ways to add to yer spell list. AND a couple of the greatest caster items of all time automatically work for ya as yer a divine caster(though not one that can lose it's magical potency because of a fall out with the gods).

wow. I have to say, I do like he class, I was just wondering what other people have figured out with it. How do you get Arcane Spells? What items are you talking about? LOL, I must have missed what your talking about, so please, elaborate!

Well I think the best part of the archivist is the synergie with the wizard(int for dc with both arcane and divine spells)...
A Mystic Theurge Archivist/wizard is the only dual caster only needing 1 primary casting stat(I know wisdom for bonus spells, but in fact you allready have a bunch of spells without it as a dual caster). We have such a build in our group(playing an updated 3.5 version of rt toee) and he is really effective at all but blasting and in fact that's something others can do, while he is buffing the party(ability scores, shield of faith, mage armor for himself...), preparing a place to sleep(rope trick and the like) healing the wounded(lesser vigor cur X wounds....) setting his contingency energy resistance up, weakening and charming enemy's(charm ;), Debuffs...)...... Oh and btw he is doing all this with his daily amount of spells every day :p. And we are only lvl 8. So well maybe that helps you a bit ;).

Archivist is one of the most powerful class out there, potentially.
But the real powerlevel is sorely dependent upon your dm, because you have to find divine spell scrolls, which of course much rarer than arcane scrolls.

The usual path for an archivist would be;
Take a PrC(like Sacred Exorcist) for Turn Undead and take Divine Metamagic & Persistent Spell.
Take a PrC(Church Inquisitor, Contemplative, or ect) for domain.

Why not just take the feat for a domain? Well, a domains spell list, but even so... Can't remember what it is called, I think it is in Complete Arcane? Of course, that doesn't give you the domain power, but still...

Actually, you just need to track down the divine spellcaster, you have scribe scroll, you can readily create your own scrolls, so long as said spellcaster is willing to provide the casting of said spell.:)

Ah, true.
I forgot about cooperation rule for magic item creation, because many dm's feel cheated by it and ban it.

One strategy I've seen often is make Archivists super summoners, the dark knowledge can help buff too when you have the higher end summons.
