Hm?

Do you mean like some sort of antimagic arrow, or interrupting arrow or what?

There is no class, class feature, feat, or prestige class that I am aware of that antimagic, countermagic, or otherwise de-magic a caster that is struck by an arrow.

The closest thing I can think of is the Suel Arcanamach from Complete Arcane, but I don't remember much about it. I do think they had some sort of "de-magicking" strike, but I can't recall any details about it.

There's always the possibility of using the arcane archer's imbue arrow ability with an antimagic field spell to have the spell affect an enemy target.

A friend told me that the class can make a caster lose ready spells or spell slots with strikes.

To explain the whole story, my friend usually make ubber powerfull characters and bully the other players, so I made a mage and kicked him. But he keeps saying that he is going to make a character to defeat my mage...( i know this is very very childish) he keeps saying that he found a class that can make the mage lose prepared spells when he hits the mage for 1 minute. I asked if it is the Witch Slayer from tome of magic but he said it is not. So I got really curious if there is another class that can do something like that and I am not remembering it

Um... I think I remember seeing something like that on these forums a while back, but I have no idea what it was called...

As far as I know there is absolutely nothing in standard 3.5 dnd that can do that.

Ooooohhhh.... okay, yes a Spellthief will work. At 30ft range he can shoot you with a sneak attack (it has to be a sneak attack) and give up 1d6 damage to "steal" a spell. The spellcaster effectively loses it and he gains it for 1 minute (or something to that effect).

Tell him good luck catching you flat-footed for one thing. The spellthief is such a crazy cool concept, but it just doesn't deliver in actual gameplay.

theres the mage slayer chain of feats which causes any spellcaster you threaten to automatically fail their check to cast in combat in, complete arcane i think. not sure, its been awhile

He also steals on a spell for spell basis. At low levels this means he either calls out a spell or gets something random and he can't steal more than one spell at a time (as far as I know. I actually rule that the spellthief can forgo multiple d6s of sneak attack to steal multiple spells at once, but that is not outlined by the class. just don't tell him about that idea). At higher levels he can determine a target's prepared spells (pretty sweet actually), but that's really high up there.

So, I actually have to wonder if he's thinking of something else... a spellthief is nice against enemy spellcasters, but he isn't going to shut one down anytime soon.

My character is a Wizard Shadowcaster Nocturmancer who abuses the idea of using swift and immediate actions spells( flicker) and counter a lot using warp spell, innate counterspell, and stiffle spell while making high damage spells because of a high bonus to caster lvl combo

The most obvious way I can see to make a Spellthief effective in one-on-one combat is a high Charisma (which their spellcasting is based on, too), max ranks in Bluff (a class skill) and Improved Feint. Just use the Feint-SA combo every turn and suck up all the juicy magic goodness. Stealing Summon spells would also work, but they can't cast them with their own spell slots because they're not allowed Necromancy, Conjuration or Evocation.

The way to counter this should be obvious- Sense Motive so he can't feint you properly.

A more mundane approach is to put a silence spell on an arrow, although GM's will vary on how well it works (ammunition is destroyed on a successful hit, and the action to remove a "silence arrow" isn't defined)

People also interrupt spellcasting just by shooting the caster and doing damage with a readied action. If you do enough, the concentration check is nearly impossible to make.

The more esoteric suggestions in this threa are interesting though.

Aside from Spellthief, there is a race that jacks with casters. They are called Karsites, and they are in the Tome of Magic. Look 'em up, see if they work for you.
