Archer Cleric? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-28-05, 12:33 PM My DM told me that clerics could make some very good archers, so I was wondering if anyone knows the build for a good cleric archer. My DM doesn't remember where he saw the post.

Here's a sample one at level 3.

Human Cleric 3 [War (Longbow) and Planning domains] with a very high Charisma.
Feats:
Bonus: Extend Spell (Planning), Persistent Spell (human), Weapon Proficiency - Longbow (War), Weapon Focus - Longbow (War).
01: Divine Metamagic (Persistent Spell)
03: Zen Archery

Now imagine all those lovely cleric buffs like Divine Favor lasting all day from level 1, and Dexterity not mattering at all (thus wearing full plate). This gets worse when Divine Power (full base attack, big strength bonus) is attained.

And that's just a very, very, very simple build. Most cleric archers are elves, for instance -- I'm just not very good at cleric optimization.

Seriously, hop on over to the CO boards and check out the library (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=213480). Or even Google Search the following line (copy it completely):

12-28-05, 02:10 PM Sadly enough, I have spent much time trying to figure this one out myself, this is what I find works the best

Clerics of Ehollona (whose favored weapon is a longbow) and then start taking up the feats from complete divine that give bonuses on your god's favored weapon, I think their are even several pretige classes for that.

For Race, I recommend Halfling or Human
Halfing-Bonus to Dex and bonus to AC
Human-More feats
I would recomend elf, but everyone seems to get POed when you reccommend an Elf who doesnt worship Corelion

Divine Metamagic Reach Spell. Make it so you can cast those cure spells from a distance and keep your self out of the fray all together.

12-28-05, 03:18 PM Elves are over all the best choice for this imo. Worship Corellon and eventually take the true believer feat, and try to quest for Corellons Bow out of the complete divine. I dont know the name of the bow, nor the specifics. The best thing about the bow itself, is that its composite, but it matches your str modifier. Load up on divine power and righteous might, and go to town.

12-28-05, 05:00 PM If you are playing in the Forgotten Realms, you could uae Solonor Thelandria anf take the domains of Elf and war since the Deity's favored weapon is the long bow. Best of all Sol,onor is an Elven Deity. Elf domain gives Point Blank shot.
