I'm playing an archer, and I'm quite bored with the Fighter/Rogue way. I'm looking for a prestiege that would fit an archer. Any suggestions?

Depending on what books you can use this shouldn't be all that bad of a build. Make sure you take the limbo power at Horizion walker lvl 6. You'll be able to use Dimention door ever 1d4 rounds, which should be good for keeping people away from you.
I had a different build but I can't seem to find it. If you don't like the deepwood sniper then take peerless archer instead. You'll lose the more powerful crits that you get from the deepwood sniper and the better shooting range, but you'll get the ability to make power attacks with your bow, and eventually you'll be able to threaten squares at range so you can make AoEs at range with your bow which can be really good.
Another good choice to mix in the the Dread Commando it's requirements are pretty much made from the other PrCs you get some SA damage and a better inititave score.

1 Ranger Favored Enemy magical beast, Pointblank Shot, WF:Longbow
2 Ranger Rapid Shot
3 Ranger Far Shot
4 Fighter Endurance
5 Fighter Precise Shot
6 Order of the Bow Initate Manyshot
7 Order of the Bow Initate
8 Deepwood Sniper
9 Deepwood Sniper Imporved Rapid Shot
10 Deepwood Sniper
11 Deepwood Sniper
12 Deepwood Sniper Greater manyshot
13 Deepwood Sniper
14 Deepwood Sniper
15 Horizion Walker Dodge
16 Horizion Walker
17 Horizion Walker
18 Horizion Walker Mobility
19 Horizion Walker
20 Horizion Walker

Isn't Deepwood Sniper 3.0 only?

Anyway, assuming you're not starting over as the above posted seems to have assumed, but rather just looking for a class, Cragtop Archer might be worthwhile to you. I'd stay away from OotBI and Arcane Archer. If your DM allows 3.0, Peerless Archer is nice.

3.0 items that haven't been redone for 3.5 are still good. At least thats what people tell me. This was written in one of the base books (PHB I think) when 3.5 was written. However by this time I kinda feel that if it hasn't been redone by now, then they ment to leave it out. However I have not seen this ruling yet.

There is the trusty arcane archer. But you need to multiclass into one arcane level (preferably bard) in order to take the class, and be an elf/half-elf if your DM enforces that.

The PrC is a little on the not-so-powerful size, so if you can convince him to let you play it as a partial caster, shoot for it.

Some archer PrCs:

Arcane Archer (DMG) - Supposedly a spellcasting archer, but without doing well at the spellcasting. Enchant your weapon too. Meh.
Cragtop Archer (Races of Stone) - Super-long-distance archery.
Deepwood Sniper (Masters of the Wild) - increased range, crits, and other stuff.
Order of the Bow Initiate (Complete Warrior) - No AoOs for ranges attacks, lame single shot attack with bonus damage, other stuff. Meh.
Peerless Archer (Silver Marches) - Make magic arrows, threaten with a bow, other good stuff.
Soulbow (Complete Psionic) - Soulknife with a bow.

The Scout (Complete Adventurer) base class also works interestingly. You can check the handbook in my sig you want to see how that might work out.

These are just the ones that are obvious for archers - basically, those with "archer" or "bow" in their names. A number of others can synergize nicely without being so specific. I'm sure I also missed a number of bovious ones.

I have just weeks ago seen an Deepwood Sniper, converted to 3.5, in action, main favoured enemy were evil outsiders and then he critted against a nightmare. It was a 1-shot kill over a range of 600 ft. Definitly impressive.

However, the best of them is probably the peerless archer. I would call it "just too good"

Order of the Bow Initiate is an interesting aracher not to bad and not to good, Arcane archer is bad and the others I don't know.

Wasn't there an archer class, that if he gave up all his attacks and took just one shot, that he gained additional d8s to his damage? I'm looking for that one also. Yes I am looking for something based on sniping, but I don't want to be a one trick pony.
Unfortunately I don't have the "Silver Marches" book. damn.

Keith187 while I appreciate the time you took out to post that info, I'm not looking for a "build" I just want to see what's available to me. I'm not looking to completely optimize my character to the point of DM frustration. Also the character is already level 6. Rogue 2/Fighter 4. There is actually one thing about the dm's campaign, casting magic where we are at is technically illegal. So if I could have a class that has abilities that are supernatural I need to be able to use them without actually "casting".

The class you referred to is Order of the Bow Innitiate.

Ah damn, I see the range on the "precise shot" is limited
bummer
that makes it crappy in my opinion.

Doing that (with OotBI) is also takes a standard action, which means it's actually incompatible with Shot on the Run, sadly.
