So I was thinking of a way to make dnd classes more cutomizable with less effort and reduce the need for making new classes, and to add a more "unique" feeling to each character.
And so I came up with archtypes.

Oh, I forgot- this probably belongs more in house rules, but this is for classes.

Basically, think of what your character will be; strong, tough, fast, dedicated, smart, or charismatic. Then choose your class. Kind of a weak gestalt system really, at each level you may have one class and one archetype, with archetypes not(still working out mechanics as yet) affecting multiclass penalties.
Archetypes include; Strong, tough, fast, smart, dedicated, and charismatic.

In this system, you kind of get 'points' from class and archetype for Bab, skill points, saves, hp, and compare them to the table to get see the final bonuses.

So here are the rough rules

HD: +1=d4 +2=d6 +3=d8 +4=d10 +5=d12
Bab: +1=poor +2=average +3=good
Skills: +1=2 +2=4 +3=6 +4=8
Saves: +1=poor +2=good

Strong
HD:+1 Bab:+2 Skills: 0 Saves:Fort+2

Tough
HD:+2 Bab:+1 Skills: 0 Saves:Fort+2

Fast
HD:+1 Bab:+1 Skills: +1 Saves:Reflex+2

Smart
HD:0 Bab:0 Skills: +2 Saves:Will+2

Dedicated
HD:+1 Bab:+1 Skills: +1 Saves:Fort+1 Will+1

Charismatic
HD:0 Bab:0 Skills: +1 Saves:Fort+1 Reflex+1

Barbarian
HD:+3 Bab:+2 Skills: +1 Saves:Fort+2 Reflex +1

bard
HD:+1 Bab:+1 Skills: +2 Saves:Fort+2

cleric
HD:+1 Bab:+1 Skills: +1 Saves:Will+2

druid
HD:+1 Bab:+1 Skills: +1 Saves:Will+2

fighter
HD:+2 Bab:+2 Skills: 0 Saves:Fort+2

monk
HD:+2 Bab:+1 Skills: +1 Saves:Fort+2 Reflex+2 Will+2

Paladin
HD:+2 Bab:+2 Skills: +0 Saves:Fort+2

ranger
HD:+2 Bab:+2 Skills: +1 Saves:Fort+1 Reflex+2

rogue
HD:+1 Bab:+1 Skills: +2 Saves:Reflex+2

sorceror
HD:0 Bab:0 Skills: 0 Saves:Will+2

Wizard
HD:0 Bab:0 Skills: 0 Saves:Will+2

As an eaxmple, take the fighter. Looking on the table, we see that he gets +2hd, +2 Bab, and +2 on Fort saves. If the chosen archetype was smart, the fighter gets +2 skill points, and +2 Will, for a total modifier of d6 hd, average Bab, 4+int mod for skills, and good fort and will saves. A tough one would gain d10 hd, 2+int for skills, good Bab, and good Fort saves.

I'm not too sure how the modern class abilities factor into this but I'll propose this: At each odd level, you alternately gain a bonus feat and talent.

1 Talent
2
3 Bonus Feat
4
5 Talent
ect..

Now, Munkinism will be a problem-say, a tough wizard. Why should a wiz get bonus hp and other stuff for free? I'll have to add something to encourage making use of the ability score the archetype is based upon.
I'm currently not sure, so I'll add a cummulative prerequisite for each talent tree. So, taking the tough example, for damage reduction talent tree, 12+ Con for first tier, 14 for next ect. If that make sense.

Hmm... I'll reserve the next post for a revised version. I definately have some major kinks in the chain here.

*Bump*

I've fixed mistakes in the tables and changed some of the values. I have also added a couple of example.
