08-18-07, 01:37 AM Is there any classes that can increase my range of my bow? I know about deepwood sniper and cragtop archer, but is there any others? or feats or special bow abilities?

08-18-07, 01:09 PM 3.0 Deepwood sniper would be my first choice, also I think the RoS Cragtop Archer might work for you. Rangers and druids have spell that boost their range increments imo.

also what spells boost range on weapons? do they stack with the distance ranged weapon ability?

08-18-07, 03:09 PM I don't think so... dude, what ranges are you shooting at? If we take the spot distance modifiers, you need to max it out to just see your target :confused: Remember, the DC to see something large in plain sight is 0, but when you have something like -30 to your check, that 0 becomes less than guaranteed.

08-18-07, 06:59 PM 10k gp spyglass. So i can see about 2-3 miles away, i was just wondering what the maximum distance anything can shoot is and so far i've come up with 9,700 ft which is 1.84 miles the build I used is 5th fighter, 10th deepwood sniper, 4th cragtop archer, then i dunno for the last 1 lv prob fighter again for an extra feat.

Here is how i got the actual distance, i may have miscalculated though so no gurentees.

Comp longbow 110' starting PHB
bow stabilizers +20' Ultimate equipment guide which got it from a quint book
oiled bowstring +20' same as above
Flight arrow +30' same as above but reduced dmg d6 from long
far shot feat X 1.5
distance bow ability X 2
Deepwood sniper range add on +100' after multipliers

all this added up then since cragtop gives 15 range increments, X 15
comes out to 9600 ft

is there anything else i can use that'll stack with any of this? just to push the range farther? since i don't think the range boosting spells will stack with distance or the feats or something. Any help would be appreciated.

08-18-07, 07:02 PM Use a larger bow.

Play a goliath or a half giant using a properly sized bow. The range increment will also increase.

08-18-07, 07:38 PM Do you know how much of an increase? Also what is the ECL adjustment for those creatures?

08-19-07, 10:33 AM Being CE and shooting 2 miles would have its percs lol. Just lookin for one of those kinda plausible greater evil guys to toss into the campaign i was building. Somethin where some comedy could be added
like you see a castle in the waaay distance on a mountain, you see a sign nearby, if you can read this your in range and then a few corpses of people like 2 steps pass the sign. Somethin like that.

08-19-07, 02:18 PM Using a Composite Greatbow (Complete Warrior) gives you longer range, since the base incrament is 130ft instead of 110ft.
