Fanged Fremont 01-19-06, 03:29 PM	Long story short, we have an new campaign and a player playing an archivist. As all archivists, this guy is scroll hungry. The question, is a scroll innately divine or arcane, or is it something elsel? One could, and has, argue that if the spell on a scroll shows up on any divine spellcaster's list or domain despite it being written by a non divine caster. The other camp in our party believes that it must be written by a divine spellcaster. So which is it? Can an archivist pay a wizard to scribe a scroll of scorching ray, and then scribe it into his own book thanks to the shugenja class having the spell on their spell list? Or would the archivist have to go to the source.

Ill site this one source (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/scrolls.htm):To have any chance of activating a scroll spell, the scroll user must meet the following requirements. The spell must be of the correct type (arcane or divine). Arcane spellcasters (wizards, sorcerers, and bards) can only use scrolls containing arcane spells, and divine spellcasters (clerics, druids, paladins, and rangers) can only use scrolls containing divine spells. (The type of scroll a character creates is also determined by his or her class.)
Fanged Fremont 01-19-06, 03:55 PM	Wow, the answers are in the rule books, who would have thought. Obviously none of us looked very hard in begining of the scroll section in the DMG (although I argued the point that it listed separate sections for Arcane and Divine scrolls). That and we have limited access to the internet. Thanks for you quick response.
