Greetings,

I'm creating my first Archivist, from Heroes of Horror, and he's starting at 4th level. I've been considering what gear to get him and thought of a question regarding what magic items the Archivist can use.

The Archivist gets his own spells from the cleric list, but he can "poach" other divine spells from scrolls. So I'm wondering if a wand or similar item enchanted with a druid, paladin or ranger spell would be useable by the Archivist? Would it make a difference if he already had the spell in his prayerbook?

I am curious to read what people think. I was not able to find anything about this on the web. Thanks.

I would say he has to have the spell in his prayer book.
Yes, he can cast the Druid spells, but he needs to study them first, and this includes being able to use a wand or scroll.

I'd say anything from the Cleric list, plus any spell from other lists he has in his books. So, if he doesn't know Entangle, he can't use it. If he has Entangle scribbled in one of his tomes, go ahead.

I would also second that you have to have copied the spell into a prayer book to use a wand or scroll.
