In 3.0, probably not. However, with the change in 3.5 that allows the wielder of a staff to use his governing attribute to set DC's and his caster level to penetrate spell resistance (unless that of the staff is higher) should the Archmage be allowed to do this? If not, what if the Archmage has taken the feat Master Staff? Could he do so then, if he used a spell slot to power the staff instead of a charge? Thanks for your answers, folks. However, in terms of the RAW, it doesn't work that way. The description of staffs says that CL and save DC are as the caster's or the staff's, whichever is better. If they allowed for more than that, we must assume that the description would say as much. |
