02-14-07, 12:12 PM After looking it over I have to say, I don't think it's as good as the Archmage. It's also more aimed at Priests and less torwards other divine casters, like the Druid.
I was hoping to find a divine prestige class that gave similiar benifts to the High Magic class features of the Archmage.

02-14-07, 12:46 PM Well, Hierophant does have one slight disadvantage over Archmage - you don't gain any further spell access, only caster level. i.e. A cleric 15/Hier 5 has the same number of spells as a cleric 15, but the caster level of a cleric 20.

Not quite what I'd want from a casting PrC...

Spells and Caster Level: Levels in the hierophant prestige class, even though they do not advance spell progression in the character’s base class, still stack with the character’s base spellcasting levels to determine caster level.

02-14-07, 06:57 PM That's what really rubbed me the wrong way about the Hierophant. It can be good in certain (cough *abusable* cough) builds, such as those focusing on holy word or night-undispellable (sp?) self-buffs.

I personally wouldn't mind if there were just higher entry requirements on it (like the Archmage) and give it full spellcasting progression.

:confused: That made no sense. At all.

The disadvantage of the hierophant is that it doesn't give you the spell slots in the first place.
In other words, the archmage gains 5 levels worth of spell slots, and gives up a few of them to gain abilities. However, since the hierophant gains no extra slots, you've effectively given them all up in exchange for your abilities!

By the way, spacefurry, the hierophant 'benefits' the druid too. There's even an ability which only a druid would take.
