06-20-07, 01:32 PM I have a question regarding the supernatural ability death holds no mysteries.
When being raised, as I looked at a nice symbol of death, I didn't lose a level for dying, but I lost 2 permanent con drain as per DM's discretion. Should that have happened? Other than it being DM's call.

06-20-07, 01:43 PM At level 1, you don't lose a level, but two points of con instead.
If you are not at level 1, then I don't what happened, maybe he got confused by the rules, thought this was better for you, used a different way to raise you where this is the rule, or something else.

06-20-07, 03:28 PM It was not handled correctly. Death Holds No Mysteries prevents level loss from being raised, and that is all it does. It certainly does not cause you to be treated as a 1st level character for the purposes of being raised, causing the permanent loss of Con. Heck, that penalty is worse (for most) than a single lost level, and clearly exists so that characters that would inherently die if they lost a level can still be raised from the dead.

It is your DM's call, but the whole point of the ability was compromised by his decision. I think this is worth bringing to his attention (respectfully, of course).

Also, you say he gave you 2 permanent Con drain. If that is ability drain in the normal sense (i.e. that can fixed with Restoration) then you have less of a problem. Yes, it is still a misinterpretation of your ability, but it amounts to adding a little more diamond dust to get back to full strength. I might still bring it up, but then it probably represents a minor hiccup not worth fighting over. However, that is not the sense I got from your post.
