Are There Any Constitution Based classes [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-26-07, 02:23 AM Ok me and a friend have been looking for a Constitution based class because we feel that it is only a 2nd stat to where all the other stats are main stats for other classes Example: Fighter Str or Dex based , Wizard is Int based. ect. I anyone knows a class where Con is the primary stat please let me know because it seems that a 18 in any other stat than Con is most important and Con is a secondary stat for everyone.

08-26-07, 02:27 AM In the 3.0 Oriental Adventures book, there was a variant rule that allowed an Earth Shugenja to base their spellcasting off of their Constitution stat (as opposed to the usual Charisma). However, I don't think it was carried over when the Shugenja was translated to 3.5.

08-26-07, 02:29 AM Well Soulborns and Totemists in Magic of Incarnum have constitution as their primary ability score. Of course, other ability scores are important also, but I'd have to say the primary ability score for both of those classes would be Con. And the Totemist is awesome, you should try it if you get your hands on MoI.

08-26-07, 02:39 AM Dragon Shaman and Dragon Fire Adepts use Con as one of multiple primary stats. The other being being Cha in both cases.

DeepWarden isn't it? 2nd level class ability: Uses add Con instead of Dex bonus to AC (but not limited by armor like Dex is).
Hard Class to qualify for: Need survival, heal, etc.

If not a Dwarf: Finishing the Stone Blessed Prc (in Races of Stone): will make you count as a Dwarf.

Of course, other ability scores are important also, but I'd have to say the primary ability score for both of those classes would be Con. And the Totemist is awesome, you should try it if you get your hands on MoI.
Incarnate too. In fact, it's as if MoI was written with the goal of giving Constitution some classes.

Also, there's a 3 level prestiege class in complete champion called fists of the forest that lets you add con to your AC similar to a monk. with wis.

08-27-07, 01:36 PM Any class that needs a high Concentration skill needs a high Constitution score. If you had a swordsage or warblade focused in Diamond Mind maneuvers, later who multiclassed into kensai, then you would need a high Constitution score.

08-27-07, 01:49 PM I've always seen barbarians as a con-based class, while fighters were either strength-based and rangers are dex-based. All three of those stats are important to all three of those classes, though, to varying degrees.
