| eggplantm04-05-07, 09:19 AM | I'll post the fix my group uses. Weapon Training This is a class feature of fighters that is gained at 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter. If functions almost identically to the ranger's favored enemy class feature except instead of picking a type of creature, the fighter picks a weapon group (see Unearthed Arcana for weapon groups) and therafter gains a +2 damage bonus when using weapons in that group. Each time this is gained after the first, an additional +2 is added to an existing weapon group (which can also be the one just gained). So, an 8th level fighter could have +4 damage with swords and +2 damage with bows for example. A 20th level figher could have +10 damage with swords and +2 with four other weapon groups. |

At 3rd level, the fighter can spend one hour retraining himself with vigorous exercise and mental conditioning. At the end of this time the fighter may replace one of his fighter bonus feats with a different fighter bonus feat. The fighter must still qualify for the replacement feat normally, and he may not replace a feat if it is a prerequisite of any other feat he possesses or a prestige class he has levels in. This replacement is permanent, but may be changed again with one hour of vigorous exercise and mental conditioning. Combat Resistance (ex): The fighter learns to resist the hazards of combat. At 6th level the fighter must choose one of the three saving throws (Fortitude, Reflex or Will), while wearing an armor the fighter gains a +1 bonus on the selected saving throw. Combat Dodge (ex): The experience in battle give the fighter better reactions. From 9th fighter level, while wearing an armor the fighter gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC. Improved Combat Resistance (ex): At 12th fighter level, the bonus to a single Saving Throw from Combat Resistance improves to +2. Improved Combat Dodge (ex): Starting at 15th level, the dodge bonus to AC from Combat Dodge improves to +2. Greater Combat Resistance (ex): At 17th fighter level, the bonus to a single Saving Throw from Combat Resistance improves to +3. Everything else (Hit Die, Proficiencies, Alignment, etc) is just like the original fighter. |

| OravennasBrother04-05-07, 01:10 PM | How to "Fix" the fighter in 3 steps 1) Learn to play GO. 2) Master the Play of GO. 3) Apply he lessons learned in step to to the play of Fighters. At that point, the Fighter class is Quite capable. |

| danielinthewolvesden04-05-07, 08:27 PM | Here it is: 1. Every level the Fighter does NOT get a bonus feat, he gets 2 Bonus Skill Points. 2. Every 5 levels, he adds one skill to his list of class skills. Add a few Feats to the list of bonus feats, extend a few feat chains, and make a few more cool PrC's that require scads of fighter feats and there ya go. |
| Repeekluos04-05-07, 09:24 PM | The fix in my sig has actually been playtested through all levels. It doesn't change a thing about the class either. Take a look, leave feedback. I can say for certain that it definitely helps, and does not overpower. We just finished a game the other day that filled out the mid levels (12-15). |
| danielinthewolvesden04-05-07, 09:27 PM | The fix in my sig has actually been playtested through all levels. . Most of us have sigs turned off and for very good reasons. |

| PhaedrusXY04-06-07, 01:56 PM | My revision to the fighter class, and tons of new combat feats, and rules on scaling some feats with fighter levels, are in the House Rules in my signature. |
| OravennasBrother04-06-07, 02:20 PM | skill points are pointless if you get blow up by a wizard Spells are useless if a Wizard fails his Save Vs Massive Damage because of a Low Fortitude Saving throw. Fortunately for Fighters, Wizards have a bit of trouble with "Blowing up" after Reflex saving throws, and Energy resistance items, and High Fighter Hit Points are accounted for. |
| danielinthewolvesden04-06-07, 03:29 PM | skill points are pointless if you get blow up by a wizard The skill points are what a Fighter needs to qualify for some very powerful PrC, not to mention adding some roleplaying depth. Occult Slayer will cream that Wizard. |

| CaoSlayer04-07-07, 04:12 AM | My fighter fix is the simplest ever: Just allow him to change his fighter bonus feats everyday. |
| bobothechimp04-07-07, 04:26 AM | I have a ridiculous idea. Increase the fighter's BAB by 1 per 4 levels, so he ends with a BAB of 25/20/15/10/5. Or just increase it by one extra point at 20, ending with 21/16/11/6/1. Give them a good capstone like that. |
| Repeekluos04-07-07, 10:36 AM | I don't follow links to non-WotC sites, either. :P You could try posting it here then linking to that, hmm? That is a link to a thread here on the class forums. It is the Feat Fix that Szatany, myself, and a few others started a while back. |
| YellowKnight04-07-07, 01:22 PM | Well, what I'm doing technically isn't a fighter fix, because it's a different class and what I'm working on involves an entire overhaul of the game's classes. At www.thecbg.org I'm working on an alternate "system" called Witchcraft d20 designed to fit a more classic fairytale-like game (knights riding out to save the princess and slay the dragon, witches living in the woods and praying on unsuspecting children, polymorphing bonanzas, etc.). The classes in this system are Warrior (not NPC), Hunter (new), Knight (homebrew), Adventurer (homebrew), Druid (homebrew version), Sorcerer (homebrew version), Harlequin (new), and Medium (new, but it may be replaced with Shadowfoot's Witch core class). The warrior in this is fairly similar to the fighter, getting bonus feats (though less than the fighter gets), best bab, d12 (instead of d10) HD, good Fort saves, and good weapon proficiencies, but also gets access to an ability called Teach (which does things like give allies bonuses to attacks and damage with certain weapons the warrior has specialized in), and Life of War, which is an ongoing ability that grants a few benefits over the course of the warrior's career (one such ability is fatigue resistance). That being said, I think at this point fighter fixes aren't really needed. There are just too many on the boards. A ton have been posted here. I really think a fighter fix compendium thread should be stickied so people don't miss it and don't have to keep asking... |
