Are there any classes out there similar to the manga "Negi Magi"?

Technically, the main character is a wizard, but he has spontaneous casting. Is there anything like this I can just put into my game?

Sorry if this is too obvious... what's wrong with Sorcerer? It's like a Wizard, but spontaneous.

I always thought that the Sorc was more of a free spirit who taught himself magic, living by his wits and such.

The main char. calls himself a wiz, learns spells through research and scholastic achievement, and is more intelligent than charming.

I would have gone sorc too originally, but he seems more wizard like for roleplay purposes.

I could always go sorc and just act like a wizard, but I was wondering if there was a class in complete arcane or what not.

Consider the Erudite. It's a Psion variant which casts "spontaneously", but has to learn & research powers. He's limited to only using a few different powers each day -- once picked, he can use a power over and over (all day, until he runs out of PP), but he has to be careful not to run out of "unique" daily powers.

Sort of like a combo Sorcerer/Wizard, but he picks his daily spell through out the day. Casting based off of Intelligence.

Let him be a wizard with all the stats and what not in terms of learning spells.
In the morning make him prepare the spells he will have access to that day. In other word take his spell books and set a number of spells equal to the sorcerrers spells known for his level and use the sor spells per day as well
So we are looking at a sorcerer with a different spell list per day limited by his own wizard spell list that he can cast spontaniously. It adds a flair to both classes without throuing to much overpowerness to the game
If anyone argues with this being to strong refer to the euridite from complete arcane at it is very close

Try the anime D20 site. (http://www.guardiansorder.com/games/d20/srd/) It sounds like you're talking about their dynamic sorcerer.

generic spellcaster (rule variant from the SRD)
- you can choose if you cast spontanious or not
- you can choose your Int or Cha as modifier
so a spontanious caster, basted on Int is entirely possible

I was thinking at one point of putting together a variant of either the Warlock (change Eldritch Blast to Magic Archer), or the Wizard (limit spell list, but allow unlimited casting per day).

Of course, the Erudite is probably a good choice as well, if you change some flavor around.
