How would you go about getting a wizard into full plate armor without spell failure with only one level of spellsword optional?

Mithril full plate, the level of fighter for the armor proficiency, and find some armor ability that lowers spell-failure.

I have no clue as to that, best I can think of is basically medium armor by going with warmage.

warmage can get heavy armor by taking a 8 levels warmage, 1 level of fighter (or heavy armor proficiency, but why waste a feat when you can go Eldritch Knight after this), and then Armored casting.

take the still spell metamagic feat? ... if spells do not have somatic components they they don't suffer from ASF.

I am trying to avoid the warmage, because of the way I want to roleplay the NPC. He's very smart (Int. 20) but very unsocial (Cha. 8).

Well I could not find away to do it without going upto 5th level in spell sword, without using the warmage class, or without using the still spell metamagic feat. However what you could do is take the one level in spellsword, use elven chainmail with the twighlight enchantment (Book of Exalted Deeds) witch reduces spellfailure by 10%. Those two coupled would produce an armored arcane caster. Or you could take the five levels in spellsword, and use twighlight mitheral plate mail. Or get a rod of still.

I think we figured it out. I can give him one level of spellsword (after I meet prerequresites) at 10%, and then buy him a blended quartz (material out of arms and equipment which doubles weight of an object but takes -20% out of arcane failure, which I don't have to worry about with his high strength score) and add the twilight enhancement to the armor (giving me another 10% ignore). 10% + 10% + 20% = 40%. Since Full Plate is only 35%, it would work. Thanks to everyone that helped. Does anyone have any more ideas they wish to contribute? Maybe creating an mithral suit and finding how to get the 5% to disappear (since then it would be 10% + 10% + 10% = 30%)? Also a question I was pondering. Would the spell Battle Caster in Complete Arcane be applied to a character in spellsword? The prerequresite condition is the ability to ignore spell failure gained from armor.

Those dip classes you're taking for ASF reduction only reduce the spells from that class's list.
In other words, your 19wiz/1spellsword will only lose ASF penalty on the lvl 1 spellsword spells. Not any of the wizard's spells.
Taking a proficiency and then building a 0% ASF suit of armor is the only way around it.

There's a material in Arms & Equipment Guide that reduces the Spell Failure % of the armour... I can't remember what it is though...

Oh, and Kersom... Spellswords aren't a Spellcasting Class... they just enchance your existing Spellcasting Class.

What's his race? Alignment? What campaign setting is he in?

If he was dwarven he could go Runecaster from Races of Stone

Two words: Still Spell. It eliminates all arcane spell failure. If you still want full spellcasting progression, the only armor that I know of with zero ASF is a +X mithral chain shirt of twilight. "Twilight" is an enhancement from the Book of Exalted Deeds that reduces ASF by 10%. If you're willing to include one level of Spellsword, you can also pull this off with scale mail and breastplate. However, if you're hell-bent on full plate, you'll either have to take Still Spell or suffer 10% arcane spell failure.

Let's just say that this particular wizard is none other then Mr. Freeze from the Batman Mythos. I wanted the armor on him cause that is traditionally what he wears. I gave him wizard over all other evocation spellcasters because he is highly intelligent and he doesn't get along with any of the other villians of Gotham. Now the campaign is set within a reinassance era metropolis, so as to keep the idea of fantasy. Essentially the characters arrive within "Gotham" (working title, I will rename it), they find that the local vigallante (Batman) has died at the hands of a villian. Mr. Freeze would be a Wiz 6/ Ftr 1/ Spellsword 1/ Elemental Savant 10. With that said, let your imaginations flow.

There's this feat called southern magician in races of faerun that lets you cast a limited number of arcane spells each day(1 every 2 caster lvs) as a divine spell(and vice versa), effectively allowing those spells to ignore ASF.
