toryn 04-03-08, 04:30 PM	Okay, the Artificer and the Duskblade are two of my favorite classes. However, I have never combined the two, and had a couple of questions. At 3rd level, the duskblade gets the ability to channel spells through a melee attack. My question lies with this: Does a multiclass Duskblade/Artificer get to channel spells if the Artificer part uses UMD check to imbue the weapon with an inflict spell, for example? I know that inflict spells are not on either classes' spell lists, but I was under the inpression that an artificer could use the Spell storing Infusion to emulate the spell in question. Does the combo work, or is there something better? Right now I am Artificer 5/ Duskblade 3. Any help would be appreciated. The DM is open to most suggestions from these boards, so that is not a problem. Thanks in advance. :D
Sunic_Flames 04-03-08, 05:57 PM	I think it's legal if you prepared spell storing item in advance, cast it, then channel it. Course, this means making high UMD checks, losing XP success or fail, and quickly running out of slots. Personally I'd just go Artificer 8, get a Spellstoring and maybe Bloodstone weapon, and accomplish about the same thing a lot easier. Craft cost reductions for the win.

Can an artificer with a spellstoring weapon fill it himself, or must he have someone else do it? If he does not have a spellstoring weapon, but casts spellstoring infusion, can he imbue the weapon with any touch spell? Thanks for any input. :D

Thanks for any input. :D An Artificer can fill his spell storing enchantment himself. He cannot simply imbue his weapon with a touch spell like a Duskblade. But between Spell Storing and Bloodstone, both of which he can get cheaply and keep filled cheaply he can get in some hard hits the same way, but be more versatile in that he can have better personal defenses, healing, etc. Bloodstone is similar to Spell Storing but only works on Vampiric Touch and automatically Empowers it. The idea is to hit something nasty, discharge both for heavy damage if not killing it outright, and then getting a nice temp HP buffer to act as pseudo healing against incoming attacks. Chances are you will only be able to do this once a fight at most, and it costs a semi decent amount of XP so don't do it too often. Call it your panic button. That's your basic Gish Artificer offense. I've played around with this a fair bit to work out the kinks. Keep in mind though some of it may make you stronger than you're meant to be, which means angering your DM. So take the game into consideration when deciding what you want to employ.
