Artificer/Wizard Dual Progression [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm interested in making some sort of a dual-progression class along the lines of the Mystic Theurge/Arcane Hierophant/etc., etc., etc.

It's easy enough to build something and let Infusion and spellcasting progress simultaneously, but not so easy to figure out how Crafting Reserve and stuff like the bonus item creation feats might work.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

After reviewing some of the similar PrC's, it seems that it wouldn't be a big deal to have dual progression of both spellcasting and infusions, as well as a steady climb in Craft Reserve. No matter how I slice it, though, anything too close to the Artificer's feat progression is way too much.
I mean the class would take a hit with hit dice and AB progression, if I toned it down to Wizard (worse than Artificer).
I wonder if some middle ground of every 3rd level a bonus Item Creation feat would be over the top.

Thoughts?

Anyone have any insights into this? Seems to me that the Item Creation feats are really the toughest part of balancing such a class.

I like your idea. But I've never suggested it because I don't know how to balance it either :\ Good luck! I hope someone can help with this!
