I was wondering if somebody smarter then I could explain something to me...
The Artificier's Infusions as far as i understand are infused into an item. that part i get i also get the casting time it takes to infuse said item and the duration of said infusions. What I don't get is does the effect take place immediatly? Does it stay in the item till i use a UMD check to activate it? And if it does how long does it stay there? Can an odd item be infused ? And lastly can I put many infusions into the same item? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!!

Same as casting a spell.
Example I want to bull Strength my friend the Fighter.
1. I cast the spell as a stanfard action (old spells have regular casting times, just the new artificer infusions are 1 minute, most at least)
2. I use the effect on a piece of equipment the guy owns not on him directly.
a. his belt b. his boots, his helmet. Etc. etc.
Just choose.

Lasts as normal for duration.

You can put it on any thing. His scabbard could get bull's Strength and since it is on him he gains the benefit.
Duration as normal.
