I've been reading the wheel of time series by Robert Jordan and I was thinking it would be cool to play one of the asha'man. However, I've tried making this class and I'm having a really hard time finding a way to make this that is not overpowered. If anyone has an idea I would like to here what it is.
Oh, and I know there is a WoT d20 but I'm not interested enought to find and buy this book so pleases don't tell me to just buy the book and look it up, I'm kinda short on money.

I've never read the Wheel of Time series, but you could consider this a bump. :bump:

Eh, the d20 WoT RPG is a suckfest. I flipped through it some. Looks like some lame attempt to capitalize on the market.

The problem with incorporating WoT stuff in is that so much in that campaign is totally different. Magic works competely differently. Outside of wild Seachan stuff, the only monsters are Shadowspawn - basically evil critters of limited variety.

The big thing is the Magic. Using the True Source is nothing like Magic in D&D. Maybe close to Sorc. magic, but not really. There's not really a clear mechanic for learning how to weave threads. Considering that you can attempt to just patch crap together - Rand does this constantly. The d20 WoT RPG does a terrible job of trying to group weaves into Talents, especially since it treats Talents as Feats. There's one feat for Traveling/Skimming/etc, but Balefire is it's own feat. Considering how many people know the stuff, and how just seeing it is enough to learn it (for most), it really maps onto a set spells/level mechanic terribly - not to mention that you'd have to give them tons of Feats as well.

All that said, I'd look at Warmage. Never really got into it, but I hear it's pretty much an "offense" only caster. That's similar to Asha'man, maybe. But really, Asha'man only seem to know a few spells - though they're really powerful. But they can cast them like, 100s of times/day. How do you model that?

But what do you do with BAB? Full BAB and Full casting? What saves are good? Skills would probably be terrible (besides basic Riding, they don't seem to learn a lot skill-wise in the Black Tower). Is there an alignment restriction - Lawful?

Seriously, good luck with this. It would be nice to see something like that, but it's too complicated for meh.

Asha'man converted into D&D would most closely fit with a Warlock and an Insanity rule variant from Unearthed Arcana.
