| HunterD10-02-04, 07:44 AM | Hi i recently started a new campaign with some Freinds and My character has just made it to 2nd level after the 1st session.Right now i am planning for the future of my character I am going to have the core class as a Druid since it is my favorite class.I am also eventually going to take some levels in Shifter. But right now my dillema is that i want to take a level in monk but it seems like abit excessive on the powergaming side. I have a good background that explains how my character obtained the level as well as good rp reasons. My dm said it was alright with him since every thing checked out but i am still having second thoughts. I wont go into details about my characters background (1 cuse i dont want to get it stolen and 2 cuse i dont want to type that much this time of night :P) but i will say that my character trained in a monistary for about 6 months which should give him 1 level in monk. But after training that long he decided it wasnt his path so he will continue with druid levels. I will only have one level in monk after this and wont be able to gain anymore. So any opinions on what should i do? Having only 1 level im monk seems kind of stupid even with the added benefits i will get from it in the short and long run.Any suggestions on how i can better balance this character out? |

It will delay your key druid abilities (spells and wild shape) but will make you more durable (unarmed damage, speed bonus, Wis bonus to AC). Its like a wizard taking one level of fighter for extra hp and weapon proficienies. You could always ask your DM to remove the multi-class restriction too. I've done that for my players and just required that they take even levels in each class or at least a 2:1 ratio (i.e at least 1 level of monk for every 2 levels of druid). If you like the idea & concept, go for it. |
