| PhrozenPhlame01-18-04, 01:51 PM | Hi. I am considering for my rogue character to take up levels in assassin. I know I'll get spells, poison use, and death attack at the cost of basically 4 skill points a level. Anyone have any good tactics they would like to share as to how to play an assassin as a PC? My character is lawful evil. He respects his party members and gave his word that he would not harm them (another one of them is evil too). He tries to avoid killing, and even may save people sometimes. But if it is convenient, he won't mind killing if neccessary (aka prison guards who are just doing their jobs etc.). And if he does ever save someone, he'll probably rob them blind afterwards. I need ideas on how to benefit my party. I realize assassin is not he best PC but i believe it could be a unique experience. I will probably be away scouting for my party lots of times. |

(death attack is so convenient when you have time :D) im not sure about your campain, but IMC you have to be initiated in game and 'given' your assasins dagger at the end of the initiation. (which boils down to getting the dagger shoved through your chest, but not through the heart) to be an assasin. also, take feats like improved death attack (or whatever its called that gives you +2 to the DC) it might not sound like alot, but when the time comes, you'll need all the help you can get (thanks to the wonderfully underpowered DC) just a few ideas... |

Sneak Attack can be very useful if your fellow party members can help you by flanking enemies in combat. Death Attack should NOT be used in combat. Instead consider a few Sneak Attacks. They do a lot more damage if you hit. Death Attacks can be made when you've scouted an area and have time to take out that goblin lookout or whatever and then call your friends forward when all is calm. The fact that Assassins must be evil can be a real problem if you have a Paladin in your group. Consider that. |
