Getafix: this is a matter of dispute (http://boards1.wizards.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-644836.html). Either some type of divine caster (druid, cloistered cleric, or archivist) or artificer. Cacophonix: Bard, possibly with a prestige class oriented toward causing enemies despair (dirge singer from LM?). Vitalstatistix: Aristocrat, but if you want to make him a PC, telepath/thrallherd. Overall, seems like a fairly balanced party. I think it could fair pretty well in a typical D&D campaign. |
| The_Shaman07-26-07, 06:45 AM | I only know the films and games, but Asterix strikes me as somewhat too martial to be rogue. A ranger, or maybe a scout. Perhaps both, but with an emphasis on ranger. Obelix as a barbarian... hmm, I don't see the trademark rage, so maybe a fighter could work just as well. Getafix was the druid guy, right? Cloistered Cleric with the Mystic wanderer PrC (MoFaerun) would be the closest imo. Cacophonix would be best suited by a bard PrC that created confusion and the like, but I am not sure there is such... Wait, you might want to check the Dragon Compendium and use an adaptation of the jester class. He was not a particularly great musician either imo. The last guy... Well, the closest thing to an aristocrat for a PC is the martial imo, maybe it will work. |
| Anaxander07-26-07, 06:53 AM | Don't forget, Obelix has an animal companion: Idefix, so he should have a level of druid or some levels of rangers ;) |
| The_Shaman07-26-07, 07:25 AM | Er, anyone can get a pet. Although in the case of his dog, which clearly has superior abilities, perhaps the animal cohort feat could be put to good use. |
| aotrscommander07-26-07, 07:38 AM | I'd be more inclined to treat Asterix and Obelix as at least part initiators, maybe. Obelix could be maybe a Barbarian with Berserker Strength instead of rage (he does get a bit miffed occasionally!) I think the most important question is what the Potion does, as it's effects are way above a normal D&D effect. I'd say, that at least it would increase Str and Con by +8, increase base speed by +10-30', maybe even add DR or natural armour and it lasts some hours to boot. If you really wanted, you could estimate the amount a tree weighs (or a menhir as probably a lower limit) and calculate the lifting capability and from that work back to get the strength. (You might argue though, that the potion perhaps also works like Powerful Build, but affecting carrying capacity too, which might cut the Str down a bit.) |
| The_Shaman07-26-07, 07:47 AM | Hmm, maybe Divine Power :) ? There is a class that can brew potions of higher level spells, although I would like to keep it a bit less impressive. |
