Armor and Weapons Proficiency: AoD are proficient with all simple weapons. AoD can wear any armor that has the shadow armor enhancement as if she is proficient with it and does not suffer arcane spell failure or armor check penalties.
Spells: The AoD can cast spells as a sorcerer but can only learn spells that have to do with shadows, darkness or the Plane of Shadow. The AoD may choose spells from any and all spell lists but cast them as arcane spells and learns them at there lowest level. If the Shadow Weave feat is chosen, then the DC's of all the AoD's spells increase by +1 and the Invisibility, Mask of Shadows and Improved Invisibility class features function at a caster level equal to the full AoD class level.
Low Light Vision (Ex): The AoD can see twice as far as a human in torchlight or similar conditions at 1st level, three times as far at 4th level and four times as far at 7th level.
Shadow: The AoD gains the feat Shadow as a bonus feat.
Invisibility (Sp): The AoD gains Invisibility as a spell-like ability usable only at night a number of times equal to her charisma modifier. The caster level for this ability is equal to half the AoD class level (rounded down).
Mask of Shadows (Sp): This ability functions as the Chance Self spell usable at will. This ability only functions at night. The caster level for this ability is equal to half the AoD class level (rounded down).
Darkvision (Ex): The AoD can see in nonmagical darkness with no light source up to a distance of 30ft. This vision is black and white. The range increases to 60ft at 13th level and 90ft at 16th level.

See in Darkness (Su): The AoD can see perfectly in darkness, even magical darkeness like the spell Deeper Darkness, up to a range of 120ft.

Very nice. seems balanced to me. Especially good for Drama campaigns and investigations, where most of the time they ar ein the night.

Just one question: What happends in a dungeon? What happends if his time frame changes?

I should have specified that. As long as ther is no natural sunlight, it is considered night as far as the special abilities are concerned.

Ok. This way the class is much more useful to PC's.

If the character already has Darkvision (like a half-orc) does the class ability add to the range, or do they overlap?

This line is a little unclear:

The AoD can cast spells as a sorcerer but can only learn spells that have to do with shadows, darkness or the Plane of Shadow.

Does this only include spells with the Shadow and Darkness descriptors? If not, you'll probably end up having to make an actual spell list for them.

If you can read this then you are a naughty person. Naughty!Naughty,Naughty,Naughty!!! I like naughty persons :inlove:

I regret reading that, and for the record I'm not cold.

Anyway, cool class! Looks real interesting and I am thinking of trying to get it into my next campaign. :)

This puts me in mind of AEG's L5R "Way of the Scorpion" Shosuro Assassin School...

Nice refinements on a classic idea.

Ilium - They would use the better value.
Ilium - Any spell that has to do with darkness, shadow or the plane of shadows is eligible. if it has darkness and/or shadow as discriptors, then they are 100% exceptable. Spells like crawling darkness (SS) and Evard's Black Tentacles are up to the DM. Spells that summon shadows or shades are eligible.

Very cool class, i could definately see myself playing it sometime, especially in some kind of detactive/subterfuge based setting.

Dont know that i would call it a true "avatar" however lol

Avatar is just a title. you could also call it 'The Midnight Mage', 'The Shadow', 'The Dark Avenger', etc. :P
