| kyros_the_spawnslayer09-23-06, 11:44 PM | I looked over the druid's Awaken spell and it states it brings the target to humalike sentience. Now my question can such a tree or animal take levels of class, because some animals would be "scarey" like a T-Rex with a bunch of levels with fighter or something silly like a oak that is also a druid. |
| runestar09-23-06, 11:49 PM | YEs.:)Though their lack of appendages might limit their effectiveness in certain classes.:P |
| kyros_the_spawnslayer09-23-06, 11:55 PM | Ah okay then I was planing on having my new druid to awaken a deinonychus in lue of a animal companion. Then later on have the awaken dinosaur take some levels of rouge or ranger. And again to re interate I think a T-Rex would be just bad to fight if he had levels of fighter and had use of Power Attack when he tries to bite you. Another thing is do they retain their neutral alignment when they awaken, cause if so an awaken animal would have a tad bit of trouble in becoming a paladin. |
| Red Eyed Antipaladin09-24-06, 12:45 AM | something silly like a oak that is also a druid. Funny you should say that... the highest level character in the Eberron campaign setting is an awakened greatpine, druid 20. |
| DragonRg609-24-06, 04:42 AM | Although it probably should be an Oak - Pines don't have the same kind of ancient mysticism to them. And they don't make such good shipbuilding timber, but I suppose that would be considered somewhat sacreligious amongst druids in Eberron. |
| supernerd891609-24-06, 09:17 AM | Awakened T-Rex barbarian BBEG! XD Professor T-Rex lol |
| supernerd891609-24-06, 09:23 AM | Anyway, their are a couple of things worng with replacing your animal companion. 1: You realise, I hope, that awakened animals can't be animal companions? Just making sure. 2: Leading from the previous, why replace when you can have both? 3: The awakened creature is in no way obligated to do anything for you. If I was your DM, I'd probably take care of the problem by making the animal feel resentfull that you treat it like a slave, and revolt. |
| The_Shaman09-24-06, 09:28 AM | So aren't there some guidelines as to what importance you have for an awakened animal? IIRC you can't use wild empathy, and diplomacy requires a common language (not likely unless you use a spell)... which can make things hard :D . |
| kyros_the_spawnslayer09-24-06, 01:28 PM | Yes I know an awakened animal can't act as a companion, and as for having both I rather have only two things to worry about (the druid and the companion or the awakened animal), and so far I am not sure if I will either use the druid or a sorcerer depending if we have a healer of some sort in the group, either way the character is going to have a dinosaur-theme to it as it appears that dragons get a lot of attention. Now another question is that you have to recalculate the creatures stats from it turning into a magical beast? |
