If not, then here is the issue: I don’t think the Warblade is overpowered compared to the fighter and the barbarian, but apparently my DM thinks it is, and because of this he has lowered the hit dice of the Warblade from its normal d12 to a d10. This is a handful of hp that could really set the Warblade back at higher levels. The reason I don’t think they are overpowered is as follows: Fighter VS Warblade: Fighters gain feats up the ass, which equals to them having a crapload of passive effects in place at the same time and for the most past in place at all times. They can use Heavy armor and Tower shields. Warblade abilities, though they may grant very cool and powerful effects, can only be in place for the most part one at a time not counting the stance. And once used, you need to give up a turn to recover them, in which case you can once again only choose one at a time to put into effect. Warblades also have to be at a higher level then fighters to gain the very powerful fighter feats. A warblade seems very powerful for the first and second round, when the good maneuvers come out, but once they are used up, they have nothing left to back them up. (Look at the fight between Ryan and Wrax) Warblades don’t have good longevity like fighters do. And having to pay extra feats to gain the usage of full plate and a tower shield sux. Warblade powers one per turn vs Fighters powers all active at all times. Doesn’t seem over powered to grant a little more hp to the warblade. Barbarian VS Warblade Barbarians gain incredible STR and CON, especially at higher levels, their natural and constantly in effect DR may be small but they need not do anything to gain it. With a good CON score a level 1 barbarian will be doing fantastic damage with a double-handed weapon (take a look at any of Oof’s fights). They gain great STR for what most likely will turn out to be the entire fight, and they gain longevity with even better CON. Again the effects of the rage will last for at least 3+ rounds. And this extra hp is on top of d12 hit dice. Warblades bonuses to damage and attack are on a one round basis and at most could only gain a bonus to one particular area once every other turn by sacrificing the use of your other abilities in order to refresh. So again it’s a question of longevity, which the Warblade does not have over the barbarian, and at later levels when there are no more one hit kills. This issue will put the Warblade at a large disadvantage. |
