BAB and Casting? [Archive] - Wizards Community

All are class that have spellcasting along with good BAB.

What other class is out there that gives this benfit with out losing spellcasting?

I was thinking about Sorecrer and then SpellSword then Abjurant Champion and Eldricth Knight but I would lose 3 to 4 caster lvl. I would like to have more spells per day and not have to mem. spells but the penilties are deep. Can I get some help here or should I just work on dealing with 6-7th level spells?

10-14-06, 03:47 PM Well, if oyu want to use sorcerer, and not wizard, thaen you could go:

Sorc 6/Fighter 1/Spellsword 1/Eldritch knight 12

You'll need to have either sorc or fighter as favored class to avoid xp penalties, but this gets you to level 20 with 18 sorc caster levels (take practiced spellcaster feat, and that nets you CL20, and you'll have 9th level spells), as well as a BAB of +17/+12/+7/+2 for the max of 4 iterative attacks.
Fighter gives you 1 bonus feat, as does level one of EK, and spellsword gives you enough ASF reduction to cast in a mithril shirt.

Overall, this is a simple, effective Gish.

10-14-06, 03:55 PM If you want a gish type without a straight mix class, use the Battle Sorcerer instead of Sorcerer, higher HD and BAB as well as a bonus proficiency and light armor casting make it very worthwhile.

10-14-06, 04:11 PM Well, BSorc beats it for simple, but for effective, I prefer the straight-sorc PrC. A mithral buckler for the off-hand is a great way to up your AC, and afaik your hand counts as free for spellcasting, so you can hack away ;)

Note: can you take an 11th level of EK without being epic?

Also, there was a "phantom knight" PrC somewhere that gave full spellcasting and good BAB. 1 level of Dragonslayer gives you a spellcasting level and +1 to your BAB as well, but it starts getting absurd.

Dragonslayer would be kinda hard because of all the prereq.

I will look into though. ABj increse durations of abj spells and gives and bumps the efectiveness of the spell.

It requres still spell and some skill ranks I think. The class is in one of the forgoten relms books.

I know I've heard of it, and I've been wanting to use it for a build or two, but I can't remember for the life of me what the source was.
