Which is the best prestige class for babarians in the 3.5 version to play a tank?

Babarian = raging elephant king?

That would depend on the Barbarian and the selection you've got.

I'd say Blackguard if you can, the spells help more, the sneak attack can work, the familiar helps a bit, the Cha boost to save can help.

Complete Warrior is a different issue, the Bear Warrior and the Frenzied Berserker are both dodgy choices.

Well, if you care about "damage and nothing else", it's the frenzied berserker from Complete Warrior. At 10th-level, his frenzy ability gives +10 STR, one extra attack on full attack rounds, and the berserker can't die until the frenzy ends (3 rounds + con Mod). His supreme power attack ability allows the berserker to trade every -1 to hit for +4 to damage with a two-handed weapon. And, it's cumulative with all rage.

We tried to build a level barbarian 10/frenzied berserker 10, and it can easilly do 500+ damage in a single round with a full attack action. It can defeat almost every melee-based foe in a 1 x 1 duel

Problems:
- while in frenzy, can't do anything but charge and attack the nearest opponent. when all opponents are defeated, he starts attacking the allies until the frenzy ends
- Suffers 2 points of damage per round while in frenzy
- -4 on AC while in frenzy

I see. The frenzied Berserker is realy a great choice. But with this disadvantages is it possible to play this character in a party for a long time without having problems with the other party members. What would help to get out of the frenzy more easily? Does the ability of the 14th level (of the babarian) help in this case?
What are you thinking about the Bear Warrior? Is this a good choice?

Sorry to dissapoint you but a FB is a TPK waiting to happen. Everey sane DM won't allow it.
The bear warrior is more safe and also gets very strong. Only problem is it can't use weapons while in bear form.

Hello all!

This the build I've got going, at 5th level, so far so good...

Half-Orc as the race...

Half-Orc Paragon 3/Orc Paragon 3/Barbarian 1/Bear Warrior 10/Warshaper 3

With raging 3 times per day, and the whole Dire bear 3 times per day, I will get my strength up to 57 eventually, and that's without any magic items to boost.

It might not be crazy optimized, but it is fun so far.

Well, the frenzied berserker may attempt a Will save vs. DC 20 every round to end the frenzy.

But I agree with Harkanshar; I personally wouldn't allow the FB as a DM. He can easilly massacrate any enemy party that does not include a spellcaster capable of taking out the FB with one shot. And his tendency of killing other party members during combat may make other players quite annoyed.

The bear warrior is really a more usable class. There is also the exalted barbarian PrC (don't remember the class name now) from Book of Exalted Deeds. It is a really good class, because it gets everything a barbarian gets (except Uncanny Dodge) and a lot of paladin-like abilities.

Eye of Grummsh isn't that good, mainly because the requirements are pretty harsh (exotic weapon proficiency with orc double-axe and weapon focus with the same weapon, plus two-weapon fighting if you intent to USE this weapon). However, it has some very nice abilities that you can't get with a normal barbarian (Blinding Spittle is my favorite one).

Despite the nerf, I still like holy liberator. 3 levels are good enough to help against many of the spells that require a will save and that's worth it alone, not to mention divine grace (if you have the cha), some divine spells, and a celestial companion.

Who the heck cooked up that frenzied berserker thingy? I be wondering what he/she/it thought of when designing the class... Much like the hulk-mon. Just... Strange...

Well, it's the classic berserker. The key is to treat him as such - as a live grenade rather than an ally. Generaly, seal him behind a wall of force with the enemy. Either he kills them all, and you heal him up after he's done raging, or he dies, and you dismiss the wall and take on whatever's left.

That's what we call a win-win situation...
