Does he move independintly and have his own character token, or does he move with me?

keep it simple, he moves with you.

12-03-04, 10:39 AM My halfling druid has a riding dog companion that he uses as a mount. When my halfling is riding it it is one model. If I am knocked off of the dog or enter an encounter not on the dag we a seperate token for the dog as it has tricks which it can follow independant of my movements. Nothing is better for a flank then an animal companion.

12-03-04, 11:42 AM If your companion is fighting then he needs his own fighting space, so you need something to represent him in combat to help determine things like flanking, attacks of opportunity. If you ride your companion then you take up the same space.
Technically your badger is an NPC and under the control of the DM, but most DM's will let you control it as long as you don't have it do something its not trained for.
