Compare it to the UA Battle Sorcerer that took away one spell per day and one spell known at each spell level (a fairly large price) and gave better BAB, HD, weapon proficiency, and casting in light armor (very nice bonuses). I'd say that only uping the HD from d4 to d6 in exchange for the secrets is very reasonable.
