They have either lost a loved one, or have something terrible happen to themselves. But, there are a few who craves vengeance and revenge like a vampire needs blood. Those few are known as Banes, they have selected a foe that has changed their lives in such a tragic way that they have sworn to destroy them anyway they can. This hatred has taken on an almost supernatural feel. But, banes have trained their anger and hatred into a formidable weapon. They don't charge blindlessly into battle. They know that patience can be just as deadly as a sword. Once a Bane has chosen it's foe they take on the title appropriate of their chosen foe, example: Undead Bane, Orc Bane etc.... Please let me know what you think. BAB Fort Ref Will Abilities 1. +1 +2 +0 +0 Bane I 2. +2 +3 +0 +0 Bane II 3. +3 +3 +1 +1 Bane III 4. +4 +4 +1 +1 Bane IV 5. +5 +4 +1 +1 Bane V Hit Dice: d10 Skills: 4+Int Mod. Skills: Bluff (Dex), Disguise (Cha), Escape Artist (Dex), Gather Information (Cha), Hide (Dex), Intimidate (Cha), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Search (Int), Spot (Wis), Survival (Wis). Requirements: Base Attack bonus: +8 Intimidate: 4 ranks Spot: 4 ranks Special: Must have a reason as to why you have chosen this class because of a particular foe. Loved one was killed because of, or you yourself was hurt. Weapons and Armor Proficiency: Banes are proficient with all martial weapons, and light and medium armors, including shields. Foes: Type: Examples: Aberrations Beholders Animals Bears Beasts Owlbears Constructs Golems Dragons Black Dragons Elementals Xorns Fey Dryads Giants Ogres Humanoid Type * Magical Beasts Displacer Beast Oozes Gelatinous Cubes Outsider Type * Plants Shambling Mounds Shapechangers Werewolves Undead Zombies Vermin Giant spiders *Banes may not select humanoid or outsider as a hated foe, but they may select a more narrowly defined type of humanoid (such as goblinoids, humans, or reptilian humanoids) or outsider (such as devils, efreet, or slaadi). A bane can only select his own race as a sworn foe if he is evil. Bane I: Beginning at first level, the bane gains a +2 to attacks, saves, and skill checks when dealing with his chosen foe. Bane II: At second level, the bane’s bonus increases to +3 to attacks, saves, and skill checks, also, the threat range increases by one, when dealing with his chosen foe. Bane III: At third level, the bane’s bonus increases to +4 to attacks, saves, and skill checks, the threat multiplier increases by one when dealing with his chosen foe, also whenever the Bane hits his hated foe with the foe must make a Will save DC 10 + Bane's CHA mod + Bane level or becomed panicked. Bane IV: At fourth level. the bane has taken on a supernatural hatred for his chosen foe. The bane can detect his foe (just like a Detect Evil/Good etc.spell), within a 60ft radius. This ability is always in affect. Also, the Bane can add +2 to any two of his ability scores when faced with his enemy as a free action. This lasts one round per Bane level. Bane V: The bane has studied, and become so familiar with his chosen foe that his supernatural hatred has gone one step further. Any weapon that the bane wields against his chosen foe, is considered a Bane weapon, and can bypass the creatures Damage Reduction, if it has any, no matter what type of weapon it is. This also works for a Monk’s Unarmed Attack, and those that have the Improved Unarmed Fighting feat. If a bane has a weapon that has a bane on it for another creature, this ability will go along with it. So a Goblinoid Bane longsword in the hands of an Undead Bane could do bane damage to goblins, and undead. If a Bane has a bane weapon that is the same as his chosen foe, the bane damage doesn’t stack, but is increased by one step. So instead of +2d6, it will become +3d6. Also, if the Bane watches his foe for at least one round without doing anything else he can kill his foe instantly with the first attack. The DC is 10 + Bane's Wis mod + Bane level. This even works on constructs and undead. |

| Tek07-24-04, 03:22 AM | There seriously isn't enough cool abilities for this class. With a Bane type PrC, you should be able to think of more then three abilities (one just being +1/+3 to hit).. and with the skill points so low, why would anyone take this? Why doesn't it have ranger skill points, it barely grants anything per level. |

If a ranger took this class along with his other abilities, it could be a nasty character. |

| XunValDorl of HouseKilsek07-24-04, 04:04 PM | Come on people, lets have some comments. |
| Tek07-24-04, 06:28 PM | The class is blah. Its not that unbalanced, maybe a little under-balanced. Give it some spiffy class abilities that are Bane like. I don't know, something like his weapons are treated as Keen against his enemies.. He gains scent against his enemies. Things like that. |
| Fuzzy Logic Inc.07-24-04, 07:08 PM | I think this class is Bland. 5 levels, with the same ability coming at 3 of them, its kind of a waste. I don't think I would take this class, even if I was playing a ranger. Add some other abilities in there. A couple off the top of my head would be... a frightful presence to the baned enemy, a rage-like ability triggered by battle with the enemy, or a smite baned enemy ability. Personally, I think this should be drawn out to 10 levels and some other flavorful things should be added. |
| Lady Ishtar07-25-04, 12:42 AM | how about an ability that makes him invisible to his hated enemies, but not other people. just an idea. |
| Kilsek of Sheverash07-25-04, 12:49 AM | For more ideas on the vengeance theme and translating them into this PrC, take a look at the granted power and domain spells of the Retribution domain in the FRCS. |

I need to get that. I am working on some cool things to do to this PrC. I will be increasing it to a 10 level PrC and adding some other things. I will post when finished. |
