why do barbarians get listen but not spot? I find that odd and I am not saying that you couldn't justify it some how but I thought that if you had spot you had listen and the other way around? well if any one knows why or if I am magicly wrong then thanks.

Because Spot is mad better skill than Listen.

You can't Listen and find magic+4 vorpal swords laying until a thin layer of dirt on the ground, now can you, Listen boy?

Spot is for Rangers! Going into Rage is for Barbarians! Rangers are equal though because they found +4 vorpal swords on the ground. It is all about game balance my friend.

Game Balance!

Take a level in Ranger!

And then after that, tell you DM that you are making Spot checks in every room you enter for a +4 vorpal sword, every time you enter a new one, every time until you find one.

Just hope that it isn't in the hands of a enemy ranger that already found it first with his Spot skill, and that always has Rangers has his Favored Enemy!

I just realized that vorpal almost rhymes with purple.

But really, the ancient warrior "Barbarian" who designed the class was actually a blind man, so that's why they don't get spot. Similar reasons as to why Sorcs don't get diplomacy, "Sorcerer" neer tried to work things out, he just lied like crazy.

...and "Druid" was a hax, that's why the class is so powerful.
