Barbarian + Monk Fast Movement: Does it stack? [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-10-05, 09:56 AM The PHB says the Monk gets an enhancement bonus to speed [Fast movement (Ex) ] - The Barbarian also get a "Fast Movement" bonus, but it's type (i.e. Enhancement?) is NOT given.

Does a Barbarian/Monk Stacks his movement bonuses from those 2 classes?

09-10-05, 11:33 AM You can be a Monk/Barbarian or a Barbarian/Monk. It's not like you're not allowed to change alignments. It's just expensive in term of XP to mutliclass that way, not optimal (as you lose the rage ability if going B to M), but it's great for roleplaying.

The monk who turns his back on his order when he finds it corrupted by external influences and flees to the wilderness to rally forces to take back what is rightfully hers (no loss)... or the wild barbarian that learns to focus his rage into a stunning attack (I'd make an Ascetic Barbarian feat for this myself... you'd still lose rage and could never go back to barbarian, but could apply some of rages per day towards stunning fist or grappling somehow).

A monk who becomes nonlawful cannot gain new levels as a monk but retains all monk abilities.

A barbarian who becomes lawful loses the ability to rage and cannot gain more levels as a barbarian. He retains all the other benefits of the class (damage reduction, fast movement, trap sense, and uncanny dodge).

09-10-05, 01:33 PM Yeah, I'd be inclined to stack any such class based bonuses to speed. A monk/barbarian has enough problems with getting those two classes to work together that I'd let the speed bonuses stack.

Now a monk/scout would have all types of goodness. That extra speed would work well with skirmish. Heck you could even get a stunning fist-skirmish smack down on your foes.
