| Munz02-26-07, 01:37 PM | Can a barbarian rage while using a combat option from the Book of Nine Swords? |
| ZiggZagg02-26-07, 01:38 PM | if you mean can he use manuevers while raging, then yes |
| fatal error02-26-07, 01:42 PM | Although I would say he could not use anything from Diamond Mind that actually uses a Concentration check, since he can't concentrate while raging. In fact, I might expand that to say he can't use anything from Diamond Mind at all, including stances, simply because it is all based off concentration, even if it doesn't require the check. |

This was the point I was making. I am not too familar with the book, and was having a conversation with my DM and a fellow player. However, since I too run a game that one of my players may be interested in using the book for, I wanted to understand that much at least. So, to answer my question, some of it they CAN do, and some of it they can't do. Sooooo.... basically it's up for interpretation with a careful read of the manuever or stance in question to see if it would require the use of concentration or focus. I think I could simply say "no" when it comes to the barbarian using it while in rage. I mean (to me anyways), the very term of rage and it's benefits as it applies to the game seem to imply a reckless assault/attack. Well, thanks anyways for your imput. |

What isn't THAT problem, seeing Tiger Claw is much more appropriate for a Barbarian :D (my point of view, anyway) |

Well, this would certainly be a houserule, so by RAW they can use anything aside from the spell-counter maneuvers (since those require a concentration check). Besides, what's wrong with a barbarian using bounding assault? It's iconic reckless charging. Although I, too, would advise more into tiger claw myself, since it's more fitting. |

Anyway, it looks kind of reckless to me, but that's just my opinion. I'd rather not have flavor-text enforced, though, hence why I don't think it necessary to limit them from the Diamond Mind discipline. Heck, if you're treating Rage like a stance as my friend does, there wouldn't be any reason not to be able to use Diamond Mind maneuvers. |
