Deadlast 02-18-06, 11:14 PM	i have been throwing around many ideas for a possible character for a 15th level quest. one of my ideas was to lean towards a bard/seeker, and possibly take levels in ranger so while a song in in effect, i can take pot shots at the enemy. although i dont have the book with me for the seeker, i know its cheif focus is spells that can deal damage, and that is the main appeal for me. i was thinking of this build possibly for its versitility. i havent worked out the kinks yet whatsoever, but i was merely posing the scenario to ask my question. i have noticed that alot of the bard prestige classes give you most if not all the bard abilities at first level without even requiring levels in bard. now i am not complaining about this fact, but i was curious to better understand it. i do realize the character would be losing out on the skill boost, and the ability to cast bard spells, but what stops a player from taking levels in another class such as a sorceror, and jumping straight to a bard prestige class? this causes the bard class to be pointless(at least in my case where i would like to focus on the bardic music ability). whats the point in taking any levels in bard, when i get all the core abilities from the very begining at a prestige class? one example of my question would be taking a level or two in sorceror to satisfy the requirments for the spellsinger. then by focusing on the spellsinger prestige class, i get the main bardic abilities, i get bardic music levels for the uses, and i have my spell level increased. so in this particular case, with the parts i wish to focus on, the bard class itself is pointless. just wondering if the general board sees something im missing, or has a point i havent found. thank you for the help
ShroudedEyes 02-18-06, 11:29 PM	Well lets look at what could be considered Bardic Prestige Classes Warchanter-Requires Inspire Courage Seeker of the Song-Requires Bardic Music Ability Sublime Chord-Requires Bardic Music Fochlucan Lyrist-Requires Bardic Music among other abilities Virtuoso-Can be gotten into by any arcane caster Stormsinger-Requires Bardic Music Trabadour of the Stars-May be gotten into by any arcane caster Only 2 out of the 7 prestige classes that grant bardic music I know of allow non-bards into them, which is not too bad I think. Plus I've always though of Virtuoso as more of a sorcerer prc anyway.
